Very interesting swap, so if I understand you right, you have a B58 swapped into your 320i xDrive? Do you have more photos of the swap process?

Yes. We moved all needed internals, including engine, whole transmission, previous ecu and more, then installed from 340xi. Here are some photos and screenshots from videos with before and after

That is impressive! Do you have any videos on youtube? Any challenges you had because the 320 body?

For these guys it wasn’t challenging, also my car was fourth or fifth with swapped engine, which made by their hands). They said that it’s harder to install in pre lci f30 with n20, how they did, cause of big difference between pre lci and lci in electronic system. On the first time I couldn’t decide about which engine I want. I thought about s55 firstly, but lots of guys said that it would be much harder to install and tuning will cost more too. Also I made a choice with b58, because I thought in that time that with supra release tuners would pay much more attention for this platform

The B58 is probably a much more natural transplant since that chassis already comes with it. An S55 swap would definitely be an interesting one!

How long since you completed the swap?

I had been thinking about swap since October, but made it in March. Guys spent 3 weeks for making complete result. Also we lost 10 days on delivering new cooling pipes instead broken, which were damaged during delivering of swap kit. I received ended car on 28 March, how I remember

This is very cool, I've been looking at more information on B58 swaps because the N55 in my 435 isn't doing particularly great.. when it blows I really want to swap a B58 because I dislike the N55. I also saw someone with a 2015 320xi pre-lci manage to have a B58 swapped into his F30. I've been on real-oem seeing what part numbers are the same between the 435 and the 440, and a lot of the modules match up, even things like front and rear subframes match and things like that.. I was thinking if I purchased a donor car off copart like a 440 with a twisted frame or something, drop the front and rear subframes with the motor and everything, swap over the fuel tank and lines. Everything should bolt up to the 435 correct?

I'm not worried about getting the stuff on the car considering they're both F32s... my main worry is the electronics side of things. How does this swap work electronically? Do you keep the original modules in the car? I assume you have to change the FEM to the one from the B58 car along with the key from the B58 car correct? On a side note, when I swapped my N54 for a new N54 (spun bearing) that was a real pain, hopefully F series isn't like my E92 in terms of swapping motors

I am in the process of doing this swap but was worried about the electronic system. I have a 2013 320i. You're saying that the mechanics found it harder swapping the B58 in a pre lci model(in which case mine is a pre lci) due to a big difference in the electronic system. Can you please elaborate more on this as I wish to know all on what I have to do to successfully do this swap ?

Doing some research on RealOEM I found that 320i has the same interior harness of a 340i, meaning all connections are all the same, therefore if any control units need to be replaced with updated ones it supposed to be just removing and connecting the updated one. I also found out that they share the same control units(except of course the ECU). So what's the big difference from swapping a B58 in a pre lci F30 with a lci F30 ?
