ABS and DME

Does anyone know how integrated the ABS module is into the DME? For example, without the stock DME will the ABS module still work if it is receiving power? Or is it directly controlled with the DME like the rest of the DSC system?

You may try reaching out to Michael page on fb. He has a turbo ls1 E90 and would probably be able to tell you what does and doesn't need the dme to work

I’ve been trying to find his contact info for a while. Michael Page is a pretty common name so I wasn’t able to find him by searching. I follow his post on bimmerpost and I know he has an IG but I don’t know what the name is. I would love to get him on the phone for a bit to discuss what he’s done and what I’m planning to do

Our DSC is used by race teams as a good stand alone stability control system.... so it can work without our DME. Probably only CAN messages.

Does that mean that it only uses braking to intervene? I thought the DSC system was a combination of braking and reducing engine power.

CAN output that the DME receives and responds by doing a throttle closure. The CAN message is unidirectional and the DSC doesn’t care or know if the DME received and complied...no real reliance there on the DME but they do “talk” and the behavior you mentioned exists.

I was pmed asking for a dump of my dsc rom because 09 actually contains new hardware not just software for improved e lsd. He is looking to convert thi m3 dsc and pump. If race teams use our dsc does that mean that we have same dsc as m3 but just different pump due to the larger brake fluid volume and piston area of m3 ?

No, this is a bit of a flip....but the non ///M DSC is actually more advanced than the M version. On the E series BMW still relied on a mechanical LSD for part of the stability control for the M3. The non-m cars have an open diff and as such have a different DSC that is more advanced to bring more control with open diff.

Yea, I can have the DME ignore DSC torque reduction requests and nothing complains...except your tires

Hi jyamona, sorry for bringing back this post, but how exactly can you make the DME ignore DSC torque reduction requests? Is this only done by swaping the ///M DSC module? or is there any way to do this via coding?

So when we long press traction control and disable is their still some torque reduction ? Or would you be making it so single press dtc would function with brake intervention but not throttle.

The car I tested it on was stock DSC unit (335is) and just a DME change.
Is this something that can be done with TunerPro via an MHD custom map? If so, which parameter?

It was just a test, so it was constantly off (no matter the button) to prove it worked. Not sure what the best solution for release would be, as what I had would require a quick flash to re-enable the normal functionality.

Would this also allow one to forcefully prevent FLR as well? 2011 335Xi's seem to use the DXC_90_16 module, which just doesn't exist in the E89 chassis files apparently and so it's impossible to disable the e-diff, etc.

Similar topic, has anyone completely removed the ABS valve and had no issues with throttle reduction, limp modes, etc? I have a pedal box and brake bias adjuster so curious if I need to leave the valve electrically connected or I can remove it.

there are DSC emulators that send constant fixed speed.

Or, JYamona can make file so DME does not care about DSC signal
