Are jack stands under the jack pad points that safe?

The one time I had to be under mine I used 6 Jack stands. 4 in the normal 4 locations. Then 2 under each axle. Then I left the Jack under the central jacking point at the front. You can of course place it under the diff if working near the rear.
Covered as many bases as possible.

I know you didn't do this, but you reminded me to post this up:

Don't lift the rear of the car by the axles or diff. The design is poor for that and you'll likely rip a rear diff bushing leading to all kinds of problems.

Good point, there is the rear subframe point that is my preferred way of jacking the rear up.
Found a pic on google that is for the 2 series but same principle applies for us.

I first drive the front wheels up on 56” long, 8” High Race Ramps:

This allows me to get my low profile “Racejack” under the front jacking point discussed below. I don’t like jacking the rear up so high with the front up on jacks yet, so I first jack the rear up with the front wheels still on the RaceRamps with wheel chocks behind front wheels.

Then I jack up rear center with wood blocks under rear diff using low profile jack. (Comment above to not jack up at the rear diff noted)
Then I place the Esco heavy duty Tripod jacks with billet jack pad adapters sitting on the rubber flat surfaces under rear jack points.

Bring the low profile jack around to the front and jack up the front off the RaceRamps at the center jacking point as shown by Pelicanparts.com:

I then place two other jack stands with BMW jack pad adapters under the two front jack pads and lower the car onto them. Because my two front jack stands are different from the rear jack stands I use 3/4” wood block shims between the jacks stands and billet adapters to make the front jack stands level with the rear jack stands.

Last - slide the race ramps sideways under the car “just in case”.

Voila!

I don't feel safe under the car ever. I had a jack point collapse into my car a little bit. I don't know what happened but I don't use it anymore. Instead I use a 8x8" piece of wood and put near it and jack up if I need to. But my plan is to replace those plastic jack points under the car since they all look like trash and then probably do this

That's the same thing I did and it works great.

Why is that ? They’re designed to have multi tonne RV’s sit on them

The horizontal weight bearing I'm fine with, it's the lack of lateral stability of a large diameter tire not being "cradled" enough on the driving surface. It appears that the tire diameter would need to be small (trailer) to "fit".

A vehicle should not be moving back and forth, but I (and wifey) just prefer a margin of error - just like I'm not getting under a vehicle on just 4 jack stands. I've done enough stupid shit over the years, and have made it this far, now it's not about pressing my luck :)

So I am a recent new owner of a bmw e60 so I have been joining all the forums that I think maybe useful as well as reading anything I feel the same about and this thread made me think of something I randomly read the other day about jacking up our cars, instead of putting wood between jackstand an jack pad a hocky puck works great and according to the thread is less likely to break under the weight of the car like wood normally does when it starts to crack as the weogjt ot transferred to it. lol idk I know its random

It's based on post count or your ratings people give your posts. Something like that. Pay no mind to it.
