URO has an aluminum cap now thats the same as OE design. I just removed some of the metal edges left over from the cast. For $26 you can't go wrong: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Engine-Oil-Filter-Cover-URO-Parts-11427525334/353032122651

I would have to examine the inside where the cage connects. Then make the judgement. The photo does not show what I need to see. Next time you change oil, take some inside close ups. The nubs are very important. If there are no nubs or negative nubs...no go.

You mean the inside nubs on the top of the oil cap? It's the same as OEM I compared it when I removed my plastic one. Also here it is for $26: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Engine-Oil-Filter-Cover-URO-Parts-11427525334/353032122651

I love how the state of California believes everything causes cancer. Now the outside of the cap just needs a heat rejection coating to shed heat from the oil.

So you're saying the three nubs are present and the center nub also? If so, them it would be identical to the plastic oem.

As far as I recall its literally identical to the OEM one down to the way the center column locks into it! Just had to clean up some rough edges left from the casting process but that took 5 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised by it honestly. FYI they also make a nice aluminum power steering pulley for cheap which is only 1 oz heavier than the plastic one

I have their aluminum pulley and it works great. The plastic stock one will chip within one month of usage. This is an example of pure stupidity on the part of business profit margins... eventually, people will lose faith in the brand due to cutting corners that should not be cut. There is zero play in bolts and no deformation of the pulley's roundness at all. Super smooth operation with zero vibrations after a few months of usage.

Back to the oil cap... I am sure they got the center locking tabs right, but what I truly concerned about are the three nipples and the center nub that push the spring loaded center cage clip upwards upon installing the center cage. If those three nipples and the center nub are present, then this is a great upgrade to the plastic unit.

The plastic pulley will not chip within one month of usage. Yours chipped within one month. You’re experience is far from the norm, or the part/assembly would have been revised before being released to production. Keep in mind they test these engines and cars before going to market. Something was clearly wrong with your install or other hardware that likely caused your issue.

First photo yes. If you look at the others though, you'll be convinced otherwise I suspect?

Indeed they do.

I am still skeptical since they don't bother to actually say it is metal. Seems like an obvious selling point.

Then there is this...

Hang on...
These are the same part from the same seller?

One has a description that says it is a metal upgrade. The other does not.

I have a BMS one. Internally it looked identical to stock. I used my stock cage and it snapped in.

Coincidentally ?? - I noticed a weaping . I'm 'thinking' its the oil thermostat housing so I'm replacing the gasket tomorrow. I will search for the 'weaping' issue.
