Okay so I have been through all of this before and I bought and owned a V1. But I refuse to believe that there isn't a better one after all these years.

Also laser jammers, anyone ever run them?

That's the last I looked at them too. Back then they were huge and over 1000, not to mention illegal in some states.

As far as I know, the passport 9500 and V1 are still pretty much cream of the crop. I haven't looked all that in depth though because my last one just used to piss me off by going off all the time.

The radar landscape has changed a lot in the last few years though with all the lane/crash detection sensors on cars.

FWIW.

Most of them still have a big control box and big sensors.

"While radar jammers have been outlawed for years nationally at the federal level, individual states, provinces, and other countries have recently begun outlawing laser jammers.
Fortunately, in the U.S., penalties are not quite that severe. Nonetheless, if you are thinking of purchasing a laser jammer, familiarize yourself with the laws in the areas you drive.
As of today the states that outlaw their use include: Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Nebraska, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and the District of Columbia."

Escort redline is what I use....best I've used thus far although has no jammer. I used to have a K40 calibre in my Trailblazer SS in the past, that was more discreet install. Loved that one but I'm sure it's pretty dated now

All our roads are just a grid so everything is nice and straight. Add in the good weather and its bike cop city and they always seem to be camped out on the sidewalk behind a wall with a gun so a laser jammer would be nice... I can't believe my V1 is still at/near the top after all this time though.

I hear ya. Vegas is very much similar. Seen bike cops hiding by a church as early as 5 am on my way to work. They've gotten smarter to combat radar detectors though. They leave their guns off until you are too near to slow down. By the time the detector goes off, it's too late. Sneaky bastards.

In Virginia detectors are illegal so the radars are left on constantly, no instant on games, as they expect most to not be using them and if they do they expect to catch them with their detector detectors. But the redline and the same bel model is the only one that is not detectable at all as it emits nothing so truckers and people in VA need that model even though there are now better ones out there, still it's a pretty high end one with great warning range in hilly country. I have only seen Ka band threats locally as K band was phased out and the redline works great detecting Ka with no false alarms as nothing else uses that. I keep the rest of the bands off because of all the cars setting them off these days with lane detection crap.

i spend weeks trying to decide on the best detector and which detector i was going to buy. the V1 gets to many false signals and the redline is a great long distance detector but i wanted one with bluetooth. I landed on the MaxII, the max 360 is "better" as it shows the direction of the incoming signal, but i couldn't find a good price on an used unit. i picked up the MaxII via ebay for only $240.

I got a Passport Escort 8500 and it works great at detecting police radar bands. It's just annoying when I'm around a new Acura and my K band goes crazy. I know its from their crash sensors or something like that. Anyone else having this issue on a different scanner?

Aren't laser jammers still big, bulky, and expensive?
Lol I personally just use Waze as it's free, no hardware, and it tells you about speed traps, cops, and red light cameras.

Right, its great depending on where you use it, and if people are contributing, plus it can easily lead to distracted drivers everywhere. Dont get me wrong its great.. only when 2 people are in the car and its being constantly updated.

I use an Escort Redline and added a Bluetooth direct wire kit. In my area their app works great with GPS marked radar locations and flash alarm locations. Some states it doesn't receive as good of a review on the app side.
