My experience of such things is that there’s a reason for that complicated path. Wonder what the sausage eaters were thinking ....

It is a bit bizarre.... even if they used the jbbr as the gateway that would be something, maybe the jbbr can only do so many speed/bus conversions.??

The dsc module should be here soon, so i can hook that up and test the szl/dsc then, looking for a cheap mss60 dme (yeah i know, not easy).

Anyone know if any ms80/ms81 can be flashed to e9x firmware (that would really help) as i can pick up a ms81 for really cheap money

Cheers, I have just read that the time used counter that locks the dme acn now be reset, if thats true (and i think it is looking at the posts), then reflashing a ms80/ms81 to m3 or 1m firmware could indeed be possible, I was reading Petes post again and he mentioned that that one of the blocks that dont allow for it (power type is the other), so if the used counter can be reset then so can the power type, and if thats also true then flashing should be possible. (thats a guess tbh)

Sorry are you asking about flashing 1M ROM on MSD81? If so yes. I just assumed you were asking about an ms80/81 which I assumed was another model altogether..

Question.... does the m3 have a unique zb for the junction box ?

AFAIK no, you just update the jbbr to the latest, in my case

Car
Jbbrfe3r.c40 (m type)

bench
jbbrfeII.c0A (l1)

They have the same functions, i think that some functions get changed when vo coded, so in the case of Servotronic, the option is disabled as the m3 dme takes this function over.

Maybe the reason why certain coding doesn’t work is that we’re using non M vehicle codes in our VO‘s...Also any coding done to on a car that was released before that feature won’t work. we need to change the vehicle order date.

a theory...maybe we’re doing this backwards .if we’re trying to emulate m3 drivelogic behaviour perhaps we need to code the car ALL M3 including the vehicle code and then only code the stuff that is non m specific...just thinking 💭

Also without eavesdropping on the can networks we don’t really know if anything’s really working... we’re flying blind...

That sounds like a really good theory.

Well i can code all my modules to m (wd92 06/10 date) and see what happens, the szl, cas and edc are already wd92, the kombi, cic and jbbr are kg72 (e92 335).

E9x M3 is a completely different DME, 100% will not be able to flash that on MSD8x lmao.

As for 1M sw, yes that works and has for some time. No need to reset running hrs if flashing with MHD.

After weeks and weeks of looking for a pinout for the x4444 connector so a edc retrofit could be possible I have found this website ( in Russian) and at the bottom it has a pinout.

http://bmwtools.info/forum/topic/2126-bmw-e90-edc/

“Кнопка edc x4444
7 пин GE/GR В JBE синия фишка X14272 18пин
8 пин GE/GN B JBE черная фишка x14270 5пин
9 пин GE/BL B JBE черная фишка х14270 2пин”

8 - JBR x14270 pin 5 (says unused in TIS)
9 - JBR x14270 pin 2 (says unused in TIS)

The only thing is that connector X14272 pin 18 is Pulse width modulation signal, blower for the heater/ air conditioning.

Indeed. I wonder if there is a typo? i dont have a switch to test, i wonder if its worth looking at the e60 m5 edc button and see if we can work that out.?

No 5 & 10 pins on the switch pack and believe pin 3 goes to the dme as well. As shown in a previous wiring diagram.
