Hey Z, If you moved the problem coil to cylinder 2 why didn't you get a misfire on cylinder 2? Wouldn't getting the misfire still on cylinder 1 suggest the coil is fine and something other than the coil is the problem?

Sorry, yea I moved the WIRE, not the blue coil thats attached to the rail. Im probably gonna replace the coil in a day or two.

Update:

Installed a new coil and wire on cylinder 1. Still misfiring constantly. Compression test shows 180 across the board. Plug looks good. Messaged PR. Waiting for a response. @V8bait suggested it could be a loose wire where the PR harness connects to the factory harness. He even sent me a tutorial on how to check the wires with a voltmeter. Appreciate the help man. Waiting for my BMW tech to get back from a vacation to test the wiring and we will see what happens from there.

Hopefully it is the wiring because I am getting a little nervous.

Till next time,
Z

Try new plug, check your injector and PI injector for that cilinder. They might be new but it doesn’t mean can’t go bad. Just recently had my PI injectors cleaned because I’m switching to meth and they went from an avg 50% to 100 after cleaning. Never hurts to try. Good luck!

Interesting idea. Is there a proven way to actually clean the stock DI injectors? Mine are original from 2008 / 63K miles. I've had to increase my scalars on 93 octane since first experimenting with ethanol a few years ago to avoid lean codes. Thinking the E85 may have clogged them.

DI injector I would just replace IMHO but have heard people that did clean them. As for the PI injectors cleaning made a huge difference.

Update #2:

V8bait said I should check wiring. I pulled off the wire loom for cyl 1, checked the wiring, it looked and felt fight. All the connections were seated properly, regardless I pushed the wires in as much as I could, they didn't move at all..started her up and boom no misfire. This was monday, I cautiously drove around without getting into boost and it seems fine. Did a log and it was fine also. But, I am not convinced that fixed my issue. Today is wednesday, and car is feeling fine, no misfires, so I am not sure what to think. The heatshrink was on tight and connectors were seated properly. V8bait said the next step would be to check wiring, and ground points with a voltmeter and go from there. Thanks for all the help @V8bait. Gonna check that in a few days to see if I can pinpoint the issue.

Lets see what happens.

Few videos from the past 3~ish weeks. Car has been running strong. No issues what so ever. Might put it away for the winter soon. Winter goals are going to be to revamp the entire suspension of the car and address the transmission issue.

Vs Built EVO Vs FBO Camaro ZL1

Vs 660whp WR 300ZX

Vs 2017 Camaro ZL1 FBO-Tune-E85

Vs Pure stg1 F10 M5 ~750hp

Vs 2015 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 With full exhaust and tune? ( according to owner makes over 600awhp )

Did you ever post the Dyno sheet? I saw the 600HP graph from one of the videos but was curious about the Torque.

BTW - Great build thread. I'm following you on my build. Just adding the turbos and Stage 3 LPFP next month and we will have very similar cars. Wish me luck!

I never could get a tq reading while using the PR coil system. Only did a few pulls on the dyno but it made 600awhp. That's all I wanted lol. Yeah I saw your thread, the advise I give you is this:
- Don't cheap out on parts to save some $. It will bite you in your a** later down the road
- OVERKILL OVERKILL OVERKILL. Mod your car like you're shooting for 800whp and keep it at 600hp. This way, you aren't stressing all the part to the max.
- Be ready for weird issues, that have no answer to. Cyl 2/5 timing drops, and other weird issues arise once you get over 550hp and nobody will be able to give you a tried, true solution lol.

Good luck and hope it works out man!

There is a secret to fixing those cyl 2\5 timing drop issues.... Stop logging Cyl 2\5, solved my issues.

Quick Check in:
Car feeling solid, been very reliable the past year or so. Just did a routine check up. Went with Shell Rotella T6 5w-40 this time around since its winter, and I won't be running the car hard like in the summer months. Picked up a trans cooler from a local partout. Got a 3 port Peterson catch can instead of dealing with VTA lol. The fumes would make me want to throw up in the cabin, it was unbearable to say the least LOL. So 2 ports will be coming from the VC ( PCV block off & flapper delete valve ), and then the 3rd port will be output to the inlet. Also, re-doing my DTM headlights. Got some condensation in my passenger light and it took out the headlight bulb, so gonna rip that apart today and reseal and clean it up a bit.

Still things to do:
M3 rear suspension
Address trans issues
UUC F&R sway bar kit
UUC Adj. End Links
Megan rear camber arms -- to stop it from eating rear tires up every month :disappointed:
Oil cooler setup
Get ready for half mile event in May!

I am really gonna push to hit the half mile event this year. Been sitting on the sidelines for too long! So half-mile event and autocross are the main goals this year!

Wish me luck!

Till Next time,
Z

Winter update:

Snowed about a foot here in Chicagoland. The combo of snow, wind, below freezing weather made it terrible to even be outside. But I did have to clean off ol' Silver and get her out of the driveway lol. I thought that the E85 in the tank would hate me, and not start up without a few good cranks but first crank and it started right up! Full e85 on PI 28psi map with a foot of snow LOL SEND IT! Turbos, motor, blower motor all holding up fine *knock on wood*. IATs are solid even with beating on the car lol. Blizzaks are worth every penny, the car handled perfect with this much snow. Didn't get stuck even once, lots of trucks and suv's were giving me the finger when I would pass them LOL . Had a lot of fun in the snow, did multiple donuts in the snow on WOT throttle and the car didn't skip a beat. I mean if its -2 out, and car isn't misfiring or acting weird while WOT, then im pretty sure its holding up pretty solid. PR coils are def a must have for any high hp car! My front bumper finally decided to break apart when hitting a bump, I literally was dragging the driver side fog lights when i hit the bump lol Pulled over and just ripped it off. Oh Well. It's gonna get replaced in the spring time anyways. Its a lot of fun in the snow with a 600awhp 335xi, hauls ass, very predictable, no need for e-brake to do donuts and executive perfect e-brake turns haha.

Still gotta do all the suspension crap once winter is over, but fixed the headlights and some other small bulbs.

Till next time.

Update:

60 degrees today and it felt so nice. Finally some warm weather here in Chicago. Okay, now let’s talk about the car. Car was fine until today. So here’s what happens. Car feels fine. Did multiple pulls no issues, but out of nowhere the car will just die. It’ll stutter and shut off. No oil leaks. No unplugged stuff. Nothing. Checked codes, and shows hpfp or lpfp. Super weird. Reached out to PR regarding the issue and Robert assured me it had nothing to do with the Hobbs switch or wiring harness. So next step is the ekp module. Luckily I have a friend who is parting out his car and I can just grab it off him tomorrow. I pushed the car in the garage for now. Hopefully, it’s just the ekp module. Anyone else go through something like this ? Comment and let me know what happened and how you fixed it.

Fingers crossed hoping it’s the ekp. Pray for me lol.

Curious what you find. I've got a DW400 on my car, hopefully my EKP will survive.

Check the ground Connection of the DME. I had this Problem after the install of my Upgrade Turbos too... A lot of different codes and car runs fine and then suddenly just died.

In the end it was the negative cabel from the DME (left side of the engine bay when looking on it), which was not tightened 100%
