I have 2010 E92 with a failed navigation hard drive. Does any have or know where I can get a hard drive image file? I've bought a new hard drive but I can't find an image file to make it work with the car.
Thanks in advance!

files are specific to your head unit.
but if you have a place to park an 80GB image I'll upload it.

how did your original dive fail? There are ways to read failed drives. possibly even repair the file system in a QNX virtual machine.

and have you considered going SSD? I've got a 240GB M.SATA drive in mine

I would really appreciate the upload! I have more than enough room to park it on my computer.
Not sure how it failed honestly. I read on another site that a guy here in the DMV had his fail recently too...must be something going around. :mask::tearsofjoy:
I've heard that you can have a shop recover info but I know nothing really about the process.
I have a 128GB 2.5" PATA drive ready to go just need an image to finally have the use of my CIC system again.

I can upload it, but I think if you just shove my image onto a drive it's not going to work out of the box.

I assume you have a 2.5" PATA adapter.
do you have a linux machine?

this explains how the file systems are set up.

last post in that thread is a link to the qnx VM.

Does the drive still spin when you plug it in?
If so I would mount it into the VM as a hardware device and then check the file systems and see if you can repair them.

then make an image if successful using DD after you unmount it from the VM.
then stuff that image onto your drive.

I was told that if I take it back to the stealership for repair, they would basically take a new HDD and upload an image to it for an extreme amount of money.
All I need is to get the CIC back up and running, then I can upload my new NAV update to it.

I have a PATA adapter and was planning on using VM

Thanks! I saw that. I was going to use that partially as a guide.

Not sure if it still spins. I may try this to see if I can't get another image file to work. I'm trying to avoid getting too technical with the solution if possible. My computer skills are more hardware oriented than software oriented.

Thanks!

I think I am closer than I was before.
Hard drive is working. The hard drive symbol is up and lit on the display.
Now its telling me that the navigation function is currently unavailable which it wasn't doing before.
Going to try to buy new nav maps and somehow upload them to the hard drive and hopefully nav will be completely solved.

As for the music files on the hard drive....I have no idea how to get that to work again.

I think you're going to find that you must alter the vin and FSC things in the hard drive to match, or you won't be able to activate anything.

the music partition should work.
