Enhance Standard Fob Range?

I have a E92 with a standard fob (non CA). My range is horrible. Maybe 5 feet. I was wondering if anyone has had the same issue and found a solution? I debated on soldering in s new rechargeable battery.

I've had similar issues with mine. No where close to 5ft but, still a lot less than I'd prefer.

I'd like to hear more on this

I know on MKIV VWs guys would extend the "antenna" inside the car to increase range wonder if this is a possibility for these cars.

Hold FOB under chin and open your mouth.... (you look stupid, but it does work)
Lol old trick. But definitely works. It's quite comical. I try to do it when no one is looking.

Theory is it uses your bodies electrical activity as a signal extender somehow

Haha one of my fobs will unlock my car from basically as far away as I want to press the button and the other is about 5-7 feet. I've always been told to do the chin thing but I'm not going to.

Then yes, it would seem apparent that there is something wrong with it. Usually, range is a power issue, let us know how it goes considering I don't think those batteries are user replaceable. My x5 key(my only key) stopped working, so I have to manually twist the key in the cylinder. Sometimes the alarm goes off when I unlock it and I have to lock and unlock it a couple times for it to stop. So I might dive into a key project myself.

QUICK, Someone make a kit and sell it for the entire e9x platform and make millions.

By project, I just mean fixing my fob, it doesn't respond to any of the buttons.

I know the replacement batteries can be found on Ebay. There are threads out there that explain the process. I'm just hesitant about the soldering portion.
