What is the best or best practice for extending a steering wheel from the Hub?
I have some Nelson racing paddles but they are just a little to close to the sticks on the column for me to fit my fingers where I like.
So I thought about pulling the wheel, adding a washer or two and it should be in the correct location. Then I realized that might be a dangerous idea but I am not really sure.

Any advice would be appreciated.

It is a pretty big nut and plenty of threads available. Seems pretty harmless. but I would be wary of how the washer may compress and alter the torque?

I guess if you use grade 8 washers you should be fine...

if you can find machine spacers they are a much higher quality.
They will be perfectly flat and made of hardened steel.
