I was told the pump in the F80 valvebody is stronger. Is it possible to swap the E9X TCU into F80 valvebody?

Since xHP has cracked the DCT now, I suspect we can start flashing different software or configurations around and a stronger pump may lead to better power holding.

Well I just looked up the part number. It seems the F80 uses the same pump: 28107842849

I was juiuuuuuust about to get a few more pieces of the puzzle. Let’s hope FD change is one of the things we can change in the flash.

I've been told by max ECU it is possible so I don't see why not. So will you keep the 3.46 FD? Still is a rather sub par situation.

Depends on your power goals and driving habbits I think. Do you have all the parts already?

Yeah, I literally have everything in the garage (even a spare 3 series driveshaft!)... Exhaust is dropped waiting to measure but the work involved once I get the shortened driveshaft makes me not want to do it. Diffs are heavy, the bushings suck to replace, bleh....

Holy shit, that is AWESOME! I'd be fine with 2.56 vs 3.15.

Sorry for derail here, but am thankful to see this news!

Yeah that should be fine if you have a 2.56. I have a feeling the dct gears are a contributor in the diff pinnion breaking. It's just a hunch. But an f80 dct might be the way forward IMO... You get to keep your 6AT diff/lsd also.

I have 3 diffs; one m3 (DCT 3.15) and two large diffs (DCT 2.56, one with MFactory LSD). I'd just keep the DCT setup (not 6AT). I am not concerned about snapping axles or all of that; not going to 1/4mile my car, just want software that isn't horrible ('creeping', terrible D/S programming, etc) and that is what interested me in the m3 GWS swap.

What is this about f80 dct? You are talking about the valvebody as per topic of this thread? Any more information on that?

When I made this thread I was under the impression it was a better unit and the pump used in the transmission was superior. But it seems the pump is a completely separate component and the part number is the same so this thread is dead.

I like the gearing in the F80 better, but that is a different subject I suppose.

Yeah, they cracked the F80 DCT software but I don't think that means anything for us E series guys. I don't think there's a lot of commonality between the F80 and E series apart from mechanical hardware. The wiring is very different, things connected to the box are different, and I'm sure the software is completely different. The F80 has a whole second PT-CAN for some reason.

What it means is that f series guys will buy licences and xhp might choose to invest in e series when they realise the size of the market and it’s depth of performance builds. It’s a positive though not yet the one we needed or wanted
