Truth be told, I hadn’t really given the Motiv kit much thought until I made this thread and got to see all of your comments. Money isn’t really a factor as long as whatever I purchase doesn’t give me major headaches down the road. I tend to believe that you get what you pay for / buy once cry once.

I am strongly leaning towards Motiv now. I’ve read through a bunch of old threads and can’t really find many negative comments on their kit, which has to be good considering how fast people are to get online and vent when they have problems.

Thanks for all of you guys’ input!!

It really comes down to what turbo and what power level you want.

Motiv hands down for the best quality. You just can't get the fit and finish of a CNC and machine welded hot parts. The problem with motiv is that you are limited to Xona and a few of those Pure turbos. And you are stuck with single scroll. Personally, I would like to have a Garrett or BorgWarner instead of those smaller aftermarket manufacturer.

I am doing an install with ACF hot parts and an EFR turbo right now. I definitely do admire the welds that Anthony can pull off. But the communication is pretty lacking from Anthony in my experience with him, particularly after I put down the payment. Aside from that, I ran into a few fitment issues that really shouldn't have been caught before shipping the kit to me.

Same applies to VM. They used to ask that much for their top mount and recently reduced their prices, showing how much profit was built in. So I won't buy from them out of principle.

Really? 7-8k huh. Looks to me in 2014 when I started the company it was $6400 shipped , that's not even the group buy price. https://www.bummerboost.com/showthread.php?57405-VM-N54-Top-Mount-ST-Group-Buy

Anyways, your loss for a petty reason. That's what usually happens when partners split up, cost comes down. :D

My vote is for the VM/ACF top mount. It was one of the first top mounts in production with countless tests by me on over 8 different turbos. I don't see any single turbo vendor doing that with their products.

Is this the website for VM / ACF? https://acfabrication.net/
I’m only able to find pictures / pricing info for this kit on n54 tech.

I like the looks of this manifold.

It is but it spools very, very quickly. I've put nearly 20k miles on mine over the least 3+ years. No issues whatsoever with any of the hardware.
Where in the world have you been lurking. Haven't seen you post in quite a while!

I did a great write up on 335iMods comparing 6 different ST kit offerings and their Manifolds. If you’re a member there I can tag you.

I'm going back to school for an MBA so it's been full steam ahead on preparing for that - I'm still around.

Actually, I'll be strapping the car down this coming weekend to see if we can get an even 700whp out of it. Fingers crossed.

Hope all is well man!

Going single scroll on an I6 car that comes with twins from the factory is a big downgrade IMO. If you consider that, the 8k price tag, and the fact that the Motiv team always seems to be too "busy" to respond to customers then you're better off going a different route.

As far as top mounts go, ACF has the best exhaust manifold design by far. Doc Race is also nice because of the availability and communication. The runners have crazy bends and are a bit long for my taste, but realistically it won't make a major difference.

If you want a bottom mount, ACF or wait for VTT. Payam's ACF bottom mount EFR spools faster than any single turbo I've ever seen. 400wtrq just after 3000rpm iirc. The VTT kit also looks 100% badass and it'll probably be priced very competitively.

I absolutely agree. I have a few months left before I return home from working overseas. For now I’m gonna wait and see how a few of these twin scroll bottom mounts pan out.

I searched around the forums and didn’t see any pics of a fully completed ACF bottom mount kit, just the thread that had pricing. Does anyone have any pics or a link?

You can't knock Motiv for communication then recommend ACF in the same post. That's INCREDIBLY biased considering ACF has communication issues of their own.

I'm curious about SPA manifold. I know it has T3 flange, but T3 is similar in size to v-band. So spool would have been very similar to Motiv, top end little worse. Like to see it with gtx3582 or BW 8374 or some gt35hta turbo. T3 .83 turbine is enough for 600-700whp.

The real problem with the spa manifold, is the price, IMO. Its single scroll.

I agree with you 1000USD for cast single manifold is way too much, 800 is still too much. The truth is I have no idea what is real price of this manifold, but when I saw similar manifolds, they were much more cheaper. BUT Motiv manifold is single scroll also (although it looks better divided internally - bank 1 from bank 2 and each cylinder port too) and it works great, so reasonable price for SPA T3 and I have no problem with this. I know they stated there is no room for WG when they (SPA) try to do it TS. If it were T4 TS 1000USD is OK for me, but no for T3 open, sorry.
I was waiting many years for Steed Speed TS manifold, vainly. When I heard SPA makes manifold for N54 I was so lucky, if it were T4 TS or V-band TS would be the first buyer, like many others, now I'm little disappointed.
