HPDE use, jb4+meth vs tune only (MHD)

I'm tracking my 135i now, currently FBO with stg2 lpfp running stage2+ MHD, I run pump 93 and flash 89 octane before hitting the track and my only issue has been oil temp. I'm also adding a 2nd oil cooler and cleaning up the duct gaps.

Considering switching to jb4+backend flash, so I can run 20 % meth, anyone done this? Is there a way to lower the boost a little when at the track for an extra safety margin? Meth is banned at most tracks however wiper fluid is not so I've gotten away with it for years, it drops my supercharged R53 mini intake temp by 75 degrees and adds a extra layer of safety

Weighting the pros/cons of jb4, I already have one from my 335i that was setup similar but I never used it at the track.

the engine performs great, just looking at safeties so everything keeps running well

You can run our WMI intergation with 20% meth if you need but it's not going to be as effectively of course.

Is there an easy way to turn boost down just a little bit for HPDE use, similar to how I set MHD to 89 octane?

id imagine you can just run map6 with custom boost settings, that would keep the meth adder active and you can line the boost up exactly where you want

if you already have all the hardware, id just set it up and see how you like it, back end flashes are free. sounds like your main investment will be time and a jb4 license in mhd

edit...where are you finding 89 octane mhd maps?

maybe it was 91? there were 3 octane choices, I picked the middle instead of 93 like normal

i know there is acn91 option, which i mean, could basically be considered 89, as its piss water.

i also dont know if id worry about downgrading your flash for a track day, the car has plenty of safety in place to prevent issue as long as youre running the right octane to begin with. but i get it

well yeah, but thats not intake temp related

still beneficial to run the water meth, but the limp mode was oil or coolant temp related. and running a lower power flash will only have a minor affect on this, strictly cooling pack related. but yeah flashing lower octane tune might give you a little longer on track

If you search on the forum you will find this is common occurrence if you track your car.

You need to upgrade your oil and coolant heat exchangers 1st if you want to be able to run on a track without going into limp mode. Stock does not cut it at all.

stock oil cooler still? maybe the hard kit that adds an additional cooler would be a good move as well as the meth

no, I have a larger oil cooler and FTP thermostat valve

really only looking for info on MHD and JB4, I have quite a few cooling upgrades already on order
