Major update,

The good news is that the trans with the mechatronics unit from the old trans works! I replaced all the solenoids and seals and it seemed to do the trick?! Now the shop obviously does not want to help me out regarding their work they claim to have done properly on the transmission. So I wasted a few bucks on the labor of that along with the zipkit and few other gaskets. Oh well. Soon as I swapped the mechatronics, the trans shifted very smooth and xHP seems to be already installed. I assume it carried over from my old trans. I have aput about 400 miles on the trans since and all the shifting seems fine except the 2nd to 3rd gear shift. When it goes into 3rd, itll jerk a little but no codes or malfunction lights. I think it should get smoother as I put more miles on it. Ive done maybe a hand full of pulls and shifting seems okay except it got stuck in 2nd gear one time. So that part is the bad news. Could it be worse? OH YEAH, but am I 100% satisfied? HELL no because it isn't perfect and this mech unit doesn't have the zipkit installed so it isnt beefed up compared to any other trans :(. I installed a improved racing 1655 t-stat along with a setrab cooler to keep the trans temperatures cool. Hopefully it'll help increase the longevitiy of the transmission. So the car is ready for the summer season and will update if I get some good videos.

I am throwing around the idea of parting out the car and going back to stock so I can sell the car and move up to another platform. Was thinking of keeping the next car under $40k. The parts below would be for sale. What are your thoughts? Worth it to part out and move on after 4 years? Or hold on for the long run?

Pure Stg 2 HiFlow (stock snout size) Turbos
BavGruppe DTM Full rings & Eyebrow Headlights ( would need $ + your stocks )
KW V1s ( $ + your stock xi suspension )
Apex ARC 8 18x9.5 et42 all around Hyper Silver - 9/10 condition
LCI tail lights
ADE 65hp FMIC
PR stg3+ LPFP system
BMP 750cc PI kit
Custom 19 row Oil Cooler kit with improved racing inline t-stat and delete plate
Custom 19 row Trans cooler kit with improved racing inline t-stat
Front ebay lip (BNIB)
ebay side skirt extensions (BNIB)
BMW PE mod exhaust
VRSF catless downpipes
UUF F+R sway bar kit + sway bar end links + bushings (BNIB)

Probably forgetting a few things but you guys get the point lol

Thanks!
Z

I might be interested in taking some parts off your hands like the oil and trans coolers / thermostats. But TBO, since your stuff is used I would expect at least 50% depreciation off new shipped CONUS.

I'm crazy... but if it was me I'd either do a manual swap or try that level 10 auto trans to see if it could hold the power.

I vote keep the car. If the tranny acts up manual or dct swap it. 4 years to me is short but I keep cars longer than most people now a days.

There are definitely some superior platforms out there, but fun for the $, it's going to be hard to better a nicely modded N54 like you have. Once you're in... the cars really aren't worth that much stock or modified, IMO if you still enjoy it and are happy with where you're at, I'd just keep it. I've had mine 8 years and still enjoy driving 'er. I think the important part (as you already know) is to remain realistic about expectations, and mod it the way you want so you're happy when you drive it.

Hey Guys,

Nothing really exciting on the car lately. I picked up a BMW Alpine HIFI retrofit speaker harness and speaker set. That install went pretty smooth and now I love my audio system again. The base stereo was TERRIBLE. Car has been running good, no issues to report of. The transmission does lock into 2nd on WOT 40 rolls sometimes but usually the cars I do pulls with are RWD and start at 60mph so I usually start in 3rd gear anyways. I do miss the 2-3-4-5 gear 40 roll pulls I used to be able to do back to back lol. I found a random V8? Audi R8 on the highway one night on the way home. I pulled up next to him and waved to do a pull and he took off and I punched it and have him the sauce pretty bad. He wanted to go again so I gave him the hit and put another bus on him . The look on his face was priceless to say the least LOL. This is what I love about this car. Not many people expect it to be as quick as it can actually be. These random nights usually are the best when you just absolutely smoke a supercar lol . In other news, my buddy who had a wrapped baby blue 335i back in the day, finally bought another 335i. This one was probably one of the CLEANEST e90 XI 6SPD cars I have seen! White on black, shadowline pkg, LCI, XI, 6SPD, Premium pkg, Sport pkg, I mean it has everything except iDrive and M-tech. I think this thread will probably show the build we plan to do on that car. This will be documented much more heavily as we already know how to do everything . He plans just to do standard FBO + e60 fuel for a easy 450AWHP daily driver. I will update the post as he purchases parts and we start installing them . In the meantime, I will upload a few pictures of his old car vs his new car. Im pumped for him! As for my old work horse, it sits on the driveway on the weekdays because I go to school in the city. I only really drive it on the weekends when I am back at my parents house.

Still have those UUC F+R sway bar kit for sale brand new. PM if you're interested. It still has the plastic wrap on em. I also have my old broken trans for sale if anyone is interested in purchasing it. PM is the best way to contact me.

Peace
Z

Pretty good weekend!

I ended up racing 90% of the 335s in the area, and beat ALL of them LOOOOOL. I am compiling the video and should be posted in a few days but we did 50-60rolls since my trans didn't want to shift into 3rd from a 40roll lol. I am shocked that my 2-3 year old setup has beaten all these brand new setup 335i's. I was hoping to lose quite a few times but the car really put down some work! Raced a bunch of other cars too. Ill list them below.

1. San Marino Blue e92 335i w/ brand new Pure600s on pump gas 21-22psi

2. Dirt Grey e90 335xi with xDelete turned on, 6MT, Newly installed used 60k mile motor, brand new FBO & fueling parts, brand new Frankenstein 18T turbos, Full e85 26-27psi, base map

3. Green e90 335i with On3 manifold, 6266 turbo, home-built piston/rod motor, not sure on fuel or boost

4. 2012 E63 AMG w aggressive Tune

5. C6 vette H/C/I/ tune

6. FBO z4 35i

7. Tune only M4

Stay Tuned for the video!

Hey all,

Made a video using this new to me app called LumaFusion on my iphone. Its pretty cool and way more detailed than iMovie. I am basically an idiot when it comes to video editing so it took me a few days to get it how I wanted it to be LOL. Onto the cool content,

So every year, a group of my buddies get together and we do a "Sunrise and Boost" cruise. We all meet up around 4-4.30AM near downtown and then have a planned route that will include twisty roads, under-ground tunnels and then we hit the lakeshore soon as sunrise happens. Its my favorite event of the year and glad to be a part of the people that put this cruise together. Its fun for everyone involved. After ripping around we head up north along the lakeshore to a breakfast restaurant where everyone eats together, ending the event. I attached some pictures of the cars that came out this year and then after that is a video of me taking on the same Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 that I raced a yearish ago. This time, we both have done more mods on our cars so its cool to see the progression.

I hate to say it, but about a week after we had this event and race, the Mitsubishi burned down in a terrible fire on the side of the highway and the owner(my buddy) was speechless. I hope he finds the strength to get through this rough time, and come out on the better side with an even more badass car!

Lastly, an update on John's white e90 XI. We installed a bucketless Fuel-it Stg2 fuel pump and VRSF Chargepipe and Tial BOV. Will be doing the BMS 7.5" FMIC this weekend . Pictures attached of that as well.

PS, the races that I did against the BMWs in my area will be coming up in the next post! Don't miss it! Please subscribe and like my youtube video and give me some feedback on what you guys would like me to improve on. I enjoy updating this thread and would love some input!

Thanks

Damn that sucks about the 3000GT. It's cool to see some of them still around. My first car was a non-turbo Dodge Stealth.

Happy Saturday everyone,

Here is the video of the BMW SHOOTOUT! Almost all the 335i's in the area came out that night. I raced an AMG, vette and an M4 as well. We all had a great time. Please like, share and subscribe this video! How do you guys think I did? Any suggestions for next time?

Enjoy :)

Hey everyone,

Need some guidance here with my friend John's car (White e90 FBO stock turbos e60). Here is some background info, its a 2010 e90 6MT XI, with the following BRAND NEW parts:

HPFP from local BMW dealer (warranty)
index 12 injectors from local BMW dealer (warranty)
BMS Race FMIC
VRSF CP w/ Tial BOV
VRSF Downpipes
Fuel it Stg2 Bucketless
e60 fuel
MHD

His rail pressure is crashing almost instantly when he starts targeting 17+psi on his stock turbos. I have NEVER seen a brand new HPFP be defective straight from the factory. His AFRs look okay, STFTs are fine, no throttle closures. We are at a loss here right now. He has spoke to multiple tuners and everyone seems to think that this HPFP that was put in literally 2 weeks ago is bad. I have attached some of his logs for reference. Any help would be appreciated.

Log:

Update on the silver surfer:

Nothing lol . I flashed my pump gas tune, unplugged the PI and now it barely gets driven because I picked up a Corolla for a winter beater. Slowly parting out the car and looking to sell this spring to move to a faster platform. First thing for sale are the BavGruppe headlights. Looking for $1k plus stocks. PM if interested.

Looks like how I would expect it to look like. E60 on a healthy (read: car that is making good power and asks for more fuel) is too much for stock HPFP at lower (<4000) RPM. This is the result.

I have the same "issue"
