Dear all,

I am Marshall from ML Performance, we are a BMW Specialist based in Surrey, the United Kingdom. This is our first post on here so please be gentle :)

We would like to share some of our new developments and we are very excited to say the least!

So after years of development and testing, we have finally completed the R&D on the M Turbo Stage 2 with the ball bearing technology. This technology is often found on the race track, and we have managed to make it into a direct OEM fitment on the N54 engines for the 135i and 335i.

The main advantage of the ball bearing technology is the turbo response, as you won't experience the turbo lag commonly associated with the journal bearing turbos. The result is faster boost time which leads to better acceleration and drivability!

It also has another advantage, it doesn't rely on oil to lubricate the internals as much, which is one of the most common reason that leads to journal bearing turbo failures.

These are currently available to be purchased for UK customer at £2800 and if people are interested in the state, it would be around $3500 delivered with the current exchange rate. :)

We can also offer a little bit of discount in a form of a refund if you are willing to do some honest reviews and provide dyno graphs etc. Please message us for more details!

Attached are a few snaps of the M Turbo Stage 2 (Ball Bearing)

The first set of M Turbo Stage 2 Ball Bearing in the UK will be installed in the first week of April, we will share some results once the tuning is done :)

The MT stage 3 ball bearing is also in development, which utilises the TD04 and this should be available to purchase within a month or two.

That's all for now, and thank you very much for reading thus far!

Kind regards,
Marshall Lee | Founder of ML Performance (UK)

care to share more specs and approx power ratings of the turbo? turbo in/outlet size? intake/exhaust size? in/outlet size?

these look like stock housings bored out to fit a bigger wheel?

what makes your turbos better than the competitors?

and rhe most important question, being from UK, these turbos should fit RHD without any modifications right?

thanks

We will hopefully be able to share some dyno results after April, once it is fitted on our customer's car and the tuning is completed.

To reply to your most important question, it does indeed fit RHD cars and no modifications will be required. As this is initially designed for the UK market.

We also have the LHD version available for the non-RHD market. (Germany & USA for example)

Currently we are not aware of any N54 ball bearing turbos (OEM Fitment) on the market, and the ball bearing technology used is totally different to the journal bearings turbos, so we do not consider them as competition. Having that said, we do believe these are great products and will require time to prove its worth. We are in it for the long run and customer service and product quality is always at the core of our business.

I forgot to mention in my original post, they do come with a one year warranty as standard (Unlimited Mileage)

As for whether it is better than other options, I guess you would have to try it our yourself and let me know! As it is early stages, we are willing to offer a little discount for testing etc. as mentioned in the original post.

I hope the above helps :)

Can you please share wheel specs on the turbos?

You do have the only BB turbos on the market so far. Impressive so far. I'm looking forward to seeing the stage 3's!

Releasing turbos for sale with no data on them at all? No dyno numbers, no logs showing spool data, no wheel specs. Just a couple photos, and a $3500 price tag? All this from a shop that has never sold turbos under its own brand, and was a "hexon" distributor? Hmmmm, lots of question marks...

Dear Tony,

Thanks for the constructive feedback as always, we will be sure to upload all the missing components in due course, we are just exited to share the latest development with everyone, watch the space!

In regards to Hexon, I believe I have previously address this to you on the N54Tech forum when you brought it up. I will explain again if you have already forgotten. We asked to become their authorised dealer(not distributor) toward the end of last year, and shortly after they went bust. So we never really had a chance to purchase any products from them. As you can see from our website, we are an authorised dealer for many US brands, and Hexon just happens to be one of them.

We use genuine German ball bearing parts, and I'm sure you will know they are not cheap since you are also developing the BB N54 turbos. Also, a lot of work is involved in making it a direct OEM fitment that requires no modifications at all. I understand some will appreciate the product and some won't, there are plenty of cheaper options available on the market and we do not intend to be one of them. It's a different product with a different price tag that appeals to a very different demographic.

Again, appreciate the useful feedback and I will take it on board as always.

Kind regards,

Years of development, but never been on a dyno? Not trying to be an ass but usually when things of this nature are released, dyno sheets, specs and things are included in the first post. Nobody wants to spend $3500 on something that nobody knows anything about.

And that's why you get in contact with the vendor if you're genuinely serious and get some more details. Nobody is seriously expecting anyone to blindly buy these.

The Vendor doesnt know what they can do obviously, otherwise they would have posted dyno sheets and results just like every reputable brand does.

We can totally understand, and we will hopefully be uploading some logs and dyno in April if all goes to plan :)

Please be patient with us and we will post them at our earliest opportunity.

Forgot to mention in my last reply, the M Turbo Stage 2 ball bearing turbos utilises the stock inlet size (1.75")

We will be updating the thread with the specifications of the turbos in the coming weeks :)

We have seen over 600bhp on our R&D cars on conservative dynos and mild tune. However you are right, we do not know the true potential, hence we are offering further discount on top of the introductory price in a form of a refund, if people would like to test them and find out the maximum :)

Classy as ever Tony.

Marshall, I'm Keen on a set of Stage 3's, I look forward to seeing them. Tony, take a hint. He's got more business without dynos than you have spinning your rollers day and night.

Dear Aaron,

Stage 3 is still in development and I will keep this thread updated as soon as we have some results on them :) It may take several months before they are ready to be purchased, as we test them for a length of time before releasing them to the market, just like all other turbos that we currently offer :)

I'm assuming those numbers were hit with a PI system with a stage 3 lpfp?
