This is really one of the only things that makes me want to keep my JB4 instead of just going flash only. I love being able to connect my iPhone while it’s charging on its magnetic mount and run my gauges with autologging. I know it doesn’t log all the ideal parameters but there’s something to be said for convenience.

That is the reason why I kept my JB4 for so long. But, in my experience, MHD only feels so much better. It is worth losing the blue-tooth for a faster and smoother car with no issues.

BUMP what ever happened to this?? I know MHD is probably busy at hand with flex fuel, shift bog (single turbo), and other stuff but I think bluebooth would be an amazing advancement for MHD.

We dont even need bluetooth flashing, just a simple bluetooth monitor module and I would be happy!

I have a Non Idrive car and the previous owner cut a whole in the dash to put the OEM extra storage bin that comes on european 1er's... So when I go single turbo Im just gonna find the CIC navigation plasting housing and fit a nexus 7 android tablet in it.

I really need bluetooth for the whole setup to work as my goal is to have it constantly getting a charge from a hardwired fuse, and upon startup and shut down of the car the tablet turns automatically turns on/off with the ignition of the car. Then I just need bluetooth MHD or JB4 to connect automatically as ill be out of ports (USB-OTG splitters dont work with charging unless you root the android device and install special kernals... which may be an option) I'd much rather just have bluetooth... so much to the point where i may go JB4/MHD stacked just to have the bluetooth from JB4

Rooting the device will mean you can run a custom ROM that will act more like a car computer and sleep with ignition off, etc etc. saw a thread about that once somewhere....

What magnetic mount do you have?

I have a low profile Logitech mount. I like it because it's unobtrusive. I currently have wayyy too much going on between my V1, dashcam and phone mount as far as power/wiring goes. I just got a 7in galaxy tablet so I'll be looking for a clean mounting solution for it, as well as hardwiring all my aforementioned devices.

I really hope this bluetooth setup comes to fruition since I'm pretty sure I'll be switching to MHD only and it would suck to not be able to charge the tablet while its in the car and worry about running yet another cable.

.... orrrr .... go spelunking in realoem and hit the accessories page for your car. For the E89 Z4, BMW made a Garmin plastic insert for non-iDrive Z4's (they had a little flip-top compartment). I ordered it before it goes NLA. I think I spend $35 at BMW of Fairfax. Don't know about your car, but you might look and consider it.

Looks like they only sell the flip-top thingie like my Z4 has. Hmmm ... didn't see the fixed Garmin insert. You might also check this thread out: https://bmw.spoolstreet.com/threads/avin-android-multimedia-system-master-thread.2226/
