Hello everyone... I just wanted to share my build that is still a work in progress. Opinions are welcome and I hope I can get a few questions answered in the process ;)
I'm starting to get excited because its almost ready to run again after being down for almost 2 years due to other commitments. I've owned this car since it was bone stock almost 5 years ago. Prior to this new build, I had MMP turbos and all the supporting FBO mods including port injection and it was running on 100% E85 with a custom MHD only tune... It was definitely a blast to drive, but I wanted a little more and I didn't trust the MMP's were going to last very long, so I sold them and then the car sat for awhile.

Anyway, here is the current mod list, some of the parts are carried over from the previous build.

SpeedTech single turbo kit w/ Precision 6266 Gen2 and Tial WG
JB4 with PI and MHD BEF
Precision Raceworks coil kit
Radium fuel cell w/built in surge tank and duel walbro 525 pumps
Radium FPR
8an fuel feed line and 6an return line
Fuel-it bluetooth ethanol sensor
Phoenix Racing port injection intake manifold
ER charge pipe and Tial BOV
VRSF 7.5" Race Intercooler
CSF aluminum radiator
M18 aluminum valve cover
Custom VTA catch can system
VTT oil t-stat block off plate
B&M oil cooler
Custom stainless pie-cut 3.5" single into duel 3" exhaust system with 4" tips
Spec Stage 3 clutch
MFactory single mass flywheel
H&R coil springs
BMW Performance Brembo BBK
19x8.5 & 19x9.5 TSW two piece wheels
Potenza RE11 235/35 & 275/30 tires

I'm sure I'm forgetting many other things lol...

And what good is a post without some pictures! :)

Love the Z!

I've been eyeing the Speedtech kit for awhile but didn't want to be the guinea pig (Jeff wasn't able confirm fitment when it first came out). Are you able to install it as is or will it require fabrication?

did the single kit fit well or fit directly on E89 ? any cut or mod pipes ?

love the color and the build, dct or mt? I've been tossing the idea of trading my 335is for a z4, any exhaust clips
Its the MT with Spec Stage 3 clutch and MFactory flywheel... I don't have it running with the single turbo yet, but I might have some clips when I was running the MMP's

Clearance wise, the 6266 and the kit fits fine with the exception of the water pump area and of course the downpipe will not bolt up to the Z4 exhaust. The water pump brackets they included, don't quite move the pump forward far enough. Apparently the Z4 is different in this area due to the electronic power steering rack being right there by the water pump... So I fabbed up some longer brackets out of some bar stock I had laying around. The other small issue is, you definitely have to relocate the radiator overflow bottle to the driver side, and they don't give you any parts for that in the base kit.

I'm trying to upload more pictures, but I'm struggling since I'm not usually on these forums lol

Here's the SpeedTech turbo kit, fitting into the Z4... Other then the downpipe needing modifications to bolt up to a Z4 exhaust and the water pump needing longer relocation brackets, and the whole water pump /charge pipe area being real tight, the turbo itself and the downpipe have plenty of room!

One hell of a fuel system. Do it once and do it right. Those rims look sick on your Z btw. Very classy.

Thanks! Yeah, no one really makes a fuel pump system for the Z4 fuel tank situation. So after a couple different tries of my own at getting enough fuel (100% E85) to the engine, I finally gave up and just removed the whole factory system, fuel tank and all LOL

Single turbo Z4 here as well. I've been toying with the idea of a fuel cell for quit some time as i've run into the same problems as you with a fuel pump solution being adequate. With the placement of your fuel cell how the hell do you fill that thing? Also do you notice and fumes in the car?

Also do you have an IG to follow your build?

For right now its a little difficult to fill it, I just use an extension hose that fits over the pump nozzle. Eventually I'll probably buy the fill neck adaptor.
There are no fumes in the car at all. The fuel cell has a vented out into the rear fender well and is tied into the factory vent line that I left in place.

The new M18 valve cover with the logo shaved off... I'm in the process of installing that now, along with some new index 12 injectors... So not much longer and I'll have it running! :)

Curious to see what you will run for catch can(s) :)

This is an awesome build!! Keep up the good work man :)
Thanks guys! I finally got it running the other day, but some bugs already popped up right away. The oil cooler had a leak, and when the radiator fan turned on, it sucked oil through the radiator and blew it all over the engine bay! :anguished: So that took awhile to clean up... And I'm also trying to figure out some flashing and coding issues that I'm having, so I still haven't driven it yet.

Curious to see what you will run for catch can(s) :)
I'm just running it VTA through a cheap catch can that has a filter on top of it. I should have some pictures of the finished engine by the end of the week ;)

Here is the custom stainless 3.5" to dual 3" exhaust system with 4" tips. These pictures are from when I had the MMP turbos though... As I type this, the car is currently at the shop getting the system custom fitted to the single turbo downpipe (eliminating the dual exhaust section up front)

Nice build!

Dont bother with brake cooling ducts. Just swap in track pads if you get pad fade. Pretty confident your water temps will hit the roof way before you are able to overheat proper track pads, even without brake cooling. I would use those empty areas for aux radiators instead. The also Z4 sort of have built in brake cooling ducts if you pull off the lower panels in front of the wheels.
