I know it would prob not be quicker but i wonder if it would transfer more power during shift ex being not need as aggressive of a torque reduction
It might not be quicker in a 1:1 application scenario (i.e stock N54 w/6hp19t vs stock 630D engine w/ the 28) but just being able to physically handle more torque might make it shift quicker with increased N54 tq vs how the 19t shifts with increased tq.

Since we've seen people stretch the 6hp19t up to 700ft/lbs+ I'm really curious what the 28 will handle being thrown at it with a proper tune and maybe even bigger rear end. If it can handle the low end grunt of a twin turbo diesel straight from the factory (let alone whatever the xHP guys have gotten it to do) I think we could really have a good option here. Who knows, it might even be step 1 towards retrofitting an 8hp somehow... though I certainly won't hold my breath yet.

we need to find out how much TQ it can handle. Also start a go fund me page lol

ZF transmissions seem to handle 10% more than their rated capacity easily before shift quality deteriorates exponentially. For an 8HP70, that would be around 770nm or 570 ft-lb.

Is that why auto et doesn't improve much with high power , I know you went deep into the torque reduction and shift times etc so figured you either gave up or found what you were looking for

Bump! Has this been done yet? If so, I would love to get some insight. This is by far the best solution for us single turbo n54 guys

zf6hp28 is better because the input shaft is 28mm vs 21mm from what I've read, allowing better torque handling without degrading the pump bushings. I believe theres a bellhousing plate that was being developed but I'd much rather have the zf8 transmission as it's allegedly stronger. I'm surprised no Aussie N54 owners have jumped on that company that was saying they have done the zf8 conversions. Very interesting!
