Hey all, my N55 just spun a rod bearing so I'm parting out some stuff and saving my pennies for a full M3 mechanical swap.

Three things worth something I have are 034 Motorsports engine mounts, and an essentially new set of Delphi coils and NGK-97506 plugs (one step colder on N55) I bought because I thought I had a misfire... turned out to be a spun bearing so the plugs and coils were used for about 5 minutes. The motor mounts were on the car for 6 laps of the New York Safety Track, or about 12 miles. I pulled them off and put the OEMs back on when I pulled the pan to verify the bearing.

I don't really have the N55 torn down yet, and wasn't really planning on it until after I get the swap done but if you need something let me know, I may be willing to part with bits and pieces if the price is right.

I also have a full black M Sport interior since the car was gutted for track use. I was going to keep this in case I ever wanted to revert back to stock spec but now I need the cash more. The seats are all in very good shape, power non heated, all the airbags, sunroof, audio, etc... you name it, basically everything except the dash is out.

Anything I didn't mention I probably have though... let me know.

Quick list I put together of things that I'd get rid of in the short term, with quick approx prices (If you have evidence of better prices, I'm all ears)

If you are doing a M3 mechanical swap, wouldn’t you want to keep the M3 steering rack and M3 suspension parts?

Well, the plan is to just buy a whole salvage M3 and take what I need. Way easier and cheaper than buying everything individually. So, ideally the donor car will have them. It did cross my mind to keep them in case the donor parts were messed up, but I don't think I'd buy one with damage like that for fear the sub frame would be ruined. There are plenty of hail damage or vandalism cars out there there's no reason to gamble on severe mechanically damaged cars.

Nice. Can’t wait to see the finished car. Are you going to create a new build thread?

Yeah I’ll make a thread, I’m horrible at remembering to taking pictures and stuff though. My goal is to crowd source some info if I need it and piece together a DIY. I’m not convinced it’s going to be as difficult as some people/companies make it out to be.

Should be the first stock body 135 build I e seen too...

Why's that? I'm just going to use the DSC from the M3. Definitely going to buy a DCT M3, but haven't decided if I'll sell one of the gearboxes, or keep one as a spare.

I don’t think the N54 boxes bolt up to the v8 but if you mean your going to cannibalise it’s for spares I get it.
M3 DSC is the same as a 335i one (software only thing different) so I wouldn’t change it, and youll get more cash for a genuine M3 one.

Maybe I just think weird 🤪Sorry to disrupt your thread

Yeah, the only difference in the DCT is the bell housing. I may sell the 6 cyl DCT post swap, we'll see. It's also something I need to keep in case the V8 doesn't work out and I need to put an N55 back in. That's why I'm also keeping my radiator, intercooler, DP, etc. The rest of this, subframe, diff, suspension stuff, etc. is all stuff that will definitely be converted.

Is the DCT module the same? They're different part numbers but I guess that could just be the software that's loaded.

I’d say TCU is the same but I’ve not seen a side by side comparison to be absolutely sure. I know shaft output is different.

DCT is for sale as a swap kit. One stop shop for someone that wants to make a 335is!
