So when you have to replace the coils do you have to contact PR to get more? I hope they'd last a while but, in the case you get a faulty coil or something what's the procedure like?
Excellent point, Derek.
I'd want them to be able to overnight a coil if needed. Nothing's better than getting a needed part the next day...we'll, I guess some things are better. ;)

You would have to order one from PR yes, who will keep some on hand for this reason. While you wait you would have to unbolt the offending coil and use a factory one in the meantime. That might compromise your race day but it will get you around just fine within the stock coil limitations (they can fire these gaps just not at high boost). Alternatively you could pick up an extra loose coil to hold on to just in case.

I'm road tripping on these next few weeks and I'm not worried about failure but if they do it's just a little work to get driving again. The alpha stage tested the design for a year and a guy with non-optimized versions has been running around over 2 years.

Sweet, I just wanted to clarify due to the way that the design appears. I skimmed over the install initially so, u was just double checking for reliability reasons.

Not going to lie.. this is a hard toss up between this and BimmerLife Tunings product. I'm sure both have their pros and cons but, variety is the spice of life.

I would go with this setup between the two. I just got rid of my B7 A4 daily driver and had issues with the R8 coils and read about a bunch of other people not getting any substantial life or part quality improvement in switching to the R8 coils either.

Interesting.. that's another good point to study before deciding. I'll have to study up on those coils and see what all I can find

Just finished my install, noticeable difference in throttle response. For those looking to perform the install the way Nick did, go to Harbor Freight and get the right tool to remove pins from connectors. I didn't, and soldered in the new pigtails. It was a bit more involved but I'm all in so no going back! Here's a pic of my completed install.

A man after my own heart! Done so many motor swaps, I don't trust anything that isn't straight crimped at the terminal or soldered and heatshrinked lol. This swap began with people of your tenacity who wanted an upgrade, the pinout design was to appeal to masses, you won't be disappointed. And, ironically, building a reverse harness for PnP Delphi connector to the BMW you cut would cost you pennies haha, if you would like the PN for the Delphi female and the terminal send me a PM :) sometimes commitment opens up doors!

What country are you buying from?
I had the same problem, but after a few emails i received a paypal invoice and paid.
Which was within 30min of Precision Raceworks releasing the kit.
Since then, ive emailed them for updates/tracking number but haven't heard back from them...

Haha I was going to the same. I work with small electronics daily. Soldering all day long. I hated just "plugging" it in! But easier reversible was the only reason why I didnt go that route. But soldering ftw!
