Hi everyone, last season I had the opportunity to get into a group buy being run locally for a big brake kit. I had never heard of the company at all, and I was hesitant at first to commit to it but i’m now very happy that I did so. One of the reasons that swayed my decision was that quite a few local guys began to run them in the regional racing league CSCS that we have here in Ontario. They were pretty extensively tested on track and held up very well. Zero issues reported.

This is a relatively new company that runs out of New Jersey and ships from Taiwan. The kit I purchased was their 6 Piston 356mm BBK that comes with a 2 piece rotor, stainless lines, the calipers of course and their own pads. They offer a few different ones. Let me also note, these are NOT some eBay or Alibaba brakes. These are made solely by ProdigyWerks. Feel free to contact them and ask about them.

My initial impressions were that they were packaged really nicely and securely. No shipping damage at all. The finish was very good on the calipers and they were very lightweight, far lighter than my OEM 135i Brembos. During install, everything fit perfectly and it went without a hitch. I previously had the stock brake lines so the stainless is a nice upgrade. All of the fittings were high quality, the hardware supplied was great, bracket fit perfectly.

During the bed in process is when I noticed the difference in braking. The OEM Brembos are good, but the increased rotor diameter was clearly needed because these just felt so much more powerful. Brake pedal feels extremely good, very modular, probably due to the stainless lines. Once I get to the track this summer, as we’re in Canada and it’s a bit cold, I can really beat on them. I would obviously recommend a dedicated track pad for track use, the ones supplied are for street use mainly but actually bite extremely well with the same dust levels as OEM. I’ll be running the G-Loc R10 track pads and will report back. I’d highly recommend trying them out or at least contacting them to get information if you are looking for a BBK as these are a great price as well. Several hundred cheaper at least than the big names.

I think they are releasing a carbon ceramic rotor this year as well if I’m not mistaken. If I win the lottery I’ll grab some and review them as well.

I remember considering these, look like a nice kit for sure. It was just a little more than I was willing to spend however, seemed to be a great price though from what I recall.

They go for $1900 USD plus shipping. But PM me if your interested, we are a dealer for them now that we’ve tested them. Anyone from SpoolStreet is eligible for a discount through us.

That’s for their largest option by the way. There are several other options available.

Not in the budget right now, but I’ll definitely keep you in mind when I do. It is on my list

Would they be interested in making discs and hats for the f30>e92 retrofitters ? The right (custom) discs would make that rear set up plug and play. Proper two piece front disc would be iceing on the cake

They do make a replacement rear rotor that can run with stock caliper sizes, it should fit just fine. I would have to check on the front though. If you interested feel free to message me and I can start a dialogue with them based on what you would like to see :)

Is it a 2 piece? I would have figured the diameter may match, but the thickness would be off. These are pretty much the same as my AP racing 9040s, with 356mm front rotors. The rotors are 32mm, and the stock rears are only 22mm thick.

It is a 2 piece. If you’d like you can message me on Facebook or on here and I can inquire on exact diameter, thickness etc for you. They do offer the tears though I’m almost positive.

I only see a front set (at least for an E90). What do you do for the rear to not mess with brake bias?

Actually they’ve got a few options that I’m aware of now, there’s a full 4 piston caliper and 2 piece rotor kit available and I’m pretty sure they even offer a 4 piston they can be utilized with the OEM rotor as well.

I have a 135i personally, already has a rather large rear brake package from factory with the OEM Brembos. Will most likely upgrade this season to their 4 piston.

They’ve also got these sweet new Carbon rotors as well which I’m just showing you because they’re cool lol

About $5K USD lol pretty competitive actually when it comes to carbon rotors.

Are there other options for the front rotors? Can I use the factory ones like the rear? How much is the rear kit minus the rotors?

Looks like they've added rotor dimension ranges to their product descriptions:
https://www.prodigywerks.com/ad6-6-piston-caliper-intro
https://www.prodigywerks.com/copy-of-fc4-4-piston-caliper-intro

They tell me the 6 pistons will fit the factory rotors (e90) just fine, though they recommend using a slightly deeper pad than the 54mm pads they normally include. Based on their FAQ, you can find compatible pads in other compounds:

https://www.prodigywerks.com/about1-c135a

Basically, CP7040D54/58 pads will fit their front rotors, and CP7040D61 or CP9040-sized pads would offer more coverage on stock front rotors. Brembo lotus or W220 4-piston caliper pads will fit the CR-4 on the rears, not sure on exact part numbers.

They've also told me their 6-piston will fit factory 17" wheels on stock e90 rotors, though you can always email them for a fitment sheet to print out.

Yes the fitment sheet is very helpful. I’d recommend trying it first before anything.

Finally tried to install the kit I ordered now that it's warm, but the provided bracket just won't fit on the carrier side, the corner of the bracket hits the ridge. Looking at other e90 BBKs, they have a much more curved corner to accommodate. Waiting to hear from prodigywerks if they sent the wrong bracket or what.
