@jimmie004 finally get everything ready for the event?

Little teaser, here's a shake down run. Flash Only with the new Motiv Boostbox (test box) with my PID. Got some 4th and 5th gear runs at higher boost. This thing is no joke how fast it is

Looks good. Unfortunately, logs, don't make a car fast. Looking forward to seeing what it traps at the event, as that's what makes a car fast. Currently we are faster than everyone else with a 3700 lb manual transmission E90, on $4000 twins, no port injection. We will see if that changes.

Unfortunately you hold the record for most blown engines too. Have you completed a single even last year without a blown motor? We are still working within what we consider the safe limits for a stock motor. We arent going for a glory run and then changing the motor when we get home. We arent going for world record numbers. Unfortunately this isn't a shop car and there isnt unlimited funds. This is a daily we plan to keep it that way. So your numbers dont mean a thing to me.

There are many definitions of fast. Care to share what your definition is, and what numbers your shop car makes both on the 1/2, the 1/4, and daily driving (same car in all cases)?

As stated, I'm just a regular guy paying out of pocket to test/review products for performance and reliability to better the platform for the common folk. Shop cars are cool, until you start comparing them to Joe Shmoe's daily...

So we just got home from the 1/2 mile. I think overall it was a success. Besides the transmission we were also tested quite a few other products and techniques with very limited time to get it dialed in where we wanted. The 15" wheels, drags, and brakes never made it on the tranny cooler never made it on and we were changing the oil at 3am this morning in preparation. As much as Jason is mad at me right now for not getting the tranny cooler installed i think it was probably a worse case true test. With peak ATF temp hitting 372*F and still throwing 27+ at it during 5th gear shift and it still didnt skip a beat. Unfortunately we were plagued with a misfire in cyl 6 when pushing beyond 180 load (30ish PSI) we had to dial it back (yes gaps are 0.016", coils are new, inj are new, and HPFP was 2200+). It seems to be the infamous kickdown misfire but we have a stop on the throttle and i did 12 runs in a row yesterday @30+psi with no issues. Of course race day is a different story. Jimmie managed to get a respectable 161.8mph in a standing half on a full weight car. This was his first time participating along with the cars. Its a DD and besides throwing drag radials on it its how he drives it every day. Meanwhile i'll try to work the kinks out with the infamous kick down misfire and see if we cant continue cranking it up. 3rd gear was giving us the trouble so i had to keep load down in 3rd and pick it back up in 4th and 5th, hence the load by gear taper. Theres a few things i want to try to resolve this issue but i wasnt comfortable making the large changes required at the track. Most importantly the car still runs and drives like it did when it rolled in. Heres a few pics to highlight the important info.

Huge shoutout to:
Jimmie! for feeling the pain of being a beta tester for quite a few things. It help unload my car of some duties.
Jason@Propulsive dynamics for finally providing a very affordable AT upgrade that can absolutely take a beating.
Motiv For hardware and software. It continues to prove its self over and over.

Outstanding work as usual guys!

Although I am less than thrilled (lol) about how hot the ATF got by any stretch of the imagination (372F is absolutely insane), it was extremely valuable data that showcases just how tough and reliable this transmission really is when being subjected to the most extreme conditions. Our upgraded clutch materials are designed to transfer all of the heat into the ATF, whereas with the stock material, it would stay in the clutches, hotspotting the steels and glazing the frictions. That should be blatantly obvious now.
Now, get that fluid changed and cooler installed ASAP!! ;)

On the tuning side, you guys at Motiv are doing some really amazing work with the BB + flash only stuff. Very impressive. Can't wait to get one on our car! I'm extremely excited about the future of this platform! :)

Question: how did you measure ATF temp? Separate thermocouple stuck inline or monitoring TCU / ECU?

Had a great time at the event with you guys and i'm super happy with how the transmission performed. Can't wait to get my car back together and start tuning and collecting data. Great pass at 161 Jimmy! Look forward to seeing you all again at the next event.
