PT6266 vs stock turbo size

The picture was a size comparison between stock and 6266 I never stated one was better than the other. Not many of us have the opportunity to hold them next to each other or own a turbo shop and deal with them on daily basis.

And for once I agree with Tony. Ya, it's bigger and can flow more, we've known this and seen these pics since the N54 came out. But that huge turbo will also lag like an Eagle Talon, completely changing the dynamics of the car. If that's what you want, awesome, go for it. Personally? Give me a pair of ball bearing GC's any day, I'll keep near stock spool times and response and couple it with 777+ whp.
Lag like an eagle talon? You obviously haven't been in a single turbo n54 lol. Most 6266's at sea level are spooling in the 3500rpm range. A DSM spools well after 5k rpms.

62mm turbo isnt a lag monster lol. We have a 3 liter motor and vanos. People have gotten over 400wtq on 93 and meth at 3k rpms using a 62mm tubro. I wouldn't recommend it though otherwise you'll bend the stock rods like a pretzel

That's it? 400? Dayum. I'm going to stay the fuck away from ST's for a long time if that's all they can do at 3,000rpm.

I don't run 93, so frankly I don't give a fuck.

I know they put down 500wtq at 3,000 on e85, and that's not even the ball bearings.

You should take a properly tuned ST N54 for a spin if you can get your hands on one. My car is as responsive to low rpm, part throttle blips with a 62mm as it was spinning stock frames. Car is an AT and has the advantage of gearing tho. Dyno #s at X rpm don't mean much when you can't put it to the ground. I can go WOT at 3k rpm in 4th and break loose :eek:. The chassis upgrade aftermarket needs to keep evolving (i.e. Ad-e's new double adjustable kit).

Exactly my point. On 93 they put down 350wtq @3k rpms. Furthermore ball bearings don't decrease the boost threshold they improve transient response. Like I said before you don't want anything above 400wtq that low in the RPMs on a stock motor you'll bend the stock rods.

Trust me they are alot of blown n54 motors out there. They just don't like posting when they blow their motors lol. Just look at how many motors Tony blew testing the GC turbos. If you want it to last you don't go for huge TQ numbers down low on the n54.

Moral of the story, go ST, no low end TQ to bend ya rods, and all the top end power to beat up ya daddys AMG.

Dude obviously hasn't been in a single turbo n54. I loved the insta-tq of my stock twins. But the hit from a single is much more satisfying (to me). And abacus is right: high load + low rpm+traction=broken oem stuff. It's simple physics. Go ahead and Cram as much tq as you can < 3k rpm on your gc's and oem engine. Have fun venting your block. The vtt shop car got built for a reason lol.

To clarify, I'm not saying twins=vta block. But I am saying they have the capacity for relatively high load+low rpm situations, should they be tuned for such behavior.
