Hey guys i wanted to ask on opinions for quad exhaust set up for the 135i.

Im currently running a 09 135i which i am planing on building as a show car, however my personall philosophy is that if a car looks mean, it better drive mean, so while i throw my money at this to look great, i do want this so perform amazing. Im currently in Calgary Alberta and the nearest track that i know of is 3hrs north of me, so i wont be tracking it every weekend, however i still do drive it pretty agressively and my first power goal is 450whp. I do want to run the quad set up. after looking into it it seems that im either left with a few options. 1) Spend a grand alone to relocate the battery and charcoal filter, to that one the 1M, and then spend money on the exhaust. 2) Run the exhaust as per oem, and then branch the tips off and across to get the look of the quad however, you will have crazy unequal lengths and loose performance down the road. or 3) Figure out a third alternative to relocate the filter find a way to run the exhaust.

Im curious on how some of you guys got it done and the outcome.

Going the second route will not effect performance, and is a common way for getting the quad exhaust to work on an e82. Either way, it will flow better then stock. And even the stock exhaust flows well.

Right, but typically unequal lengths in exhaust causes flow issues. I didnt realize how well the stock exhaust was until much after, but iv already got my carbon fiber diffuser (dual exhaust) i would like use haha

It's not going to do anything. If you have a pipe welding off the end of the ordinary exhaust, the turbulence is at the very end of the exhaust anyways. You can pay the $1000 to have it all routed so you can fit a 1m exhaust for piece of mind, but it's not going to make a difference.

I have the same conundrum and I'm dreading spending the money for the 1m tray, etcetera. Have you considered doing a battery tray delete? Only downside is having the battery relocated in the trunk. May be a cheaper option

I have thought of it, iv even considered pushing the charcoal filter up into the trunk, however the issue is that the trunk space is already small enough, and I really would hate to compromise any more space since it is my daily driver. I have considered doing the charcoal filter delete since its main purpose is for emissions, but I will see if there is a way to have the exhaust run below the filter or see if i can blueprint an equal exhaust run.

I just had a custom quad exhasut made ~2 weeks ago. There is no need to relocate anything. Any exhaust shop should have no problem running a 2.5inch pipe through the passenger side. If they need some extra clearance, you can place washers on the bracket that holds the charcoal canister to act as a spacer, pushing the canister up ~1/2 inch. You can also wrap the canister in reflective wrap to ward off any excess heat if you're worried about melting anything.

Details of my setup on my 2011 N55 135i:
Ebay carbon diffuser from seller speed-racing
VRSF 3.5 inch downpipe chopped and mated to a 3inch mid-pipe via V-band
3inch midpipe to 2.5 inch y-pipe
Vibrant Performance 1333 tips

Let me know if you have any more questions

Drone isn't terrible imo. Then again I drove a 07 CVT tranny Maxima with an ebay exhaust for 2 years.
It sounds nothing like a Honda. Cold starts are extremely loud. Idle is surprisingly quiet. Overall the drone is bearable. The car is quiet when I want or a monster when I want. I'm debating adding a Vibrant 12inch bottle resonator or one of their race resonators.

PM me and I can email you the videos I have. They're too large to upload here

Here is a quick cost break down:
Work and materials $800
Vibrant 1333 tips $100
I gave the guy a $50 tip because he was great and maybe he'll remember me next time I need some work done
$950 total

This was totally worth it to me because any aftermarket axle-back will cost over $1,000 and has a dingy little pipe to the passenger side. Also, I can always add a resonator in the future.

I'll get my buddy with a proper camera to take some videos and I'll make a proper write up when I get some more time. Classes just started so everything is a little hectic right now

No worries thats awesome. Hopefully ill get time to take my car to a local shop and get it done. If Im lucky I maybe able to timelapse it getting done as well!

Relocated my charcoal canister behind the rear crossmember and have 3" dp to 3.5" mid and back to 2.5" quad exit. Passes through a vibrant resonator, secondary cat, and MadDad Whisper muffler. Drone pipe and cat also pictured which were added later after my N53/Hydra build.

This is 1M tip spacing.
