My Build:

New to this forum so I figured I'd post my build thread. Looking forward to being active on here as much as possible.

First I'll explain how this all started. My love for BMW's began when I turned 16 and got a '05 325xi. The first thing I did (typical 16 year old) was upgrade the sound system and throw 2 10" JL Audio subs in the trunk. This car was loud! I was happy with it otherwise stock... at the time I wasn't familiar with "modding".

Eventually my brother mentioned a "cold air intake" which I'd never heard of before... make the car sound and perform better? Why not. I bought an air intake and I can still remember that slight change in sound... "WOOSH"... I was hooked. From there I threw on some black wheels and grills. I loved the feeling of customizing the car to make it my own.

At this point I had never been in a fast car. I thought the coolest thing about a car was the sound system and aesthetics. I had no idea what I was missing. One day a buddy of mine asked if I wanted to race. He had a Subaru STI and I remember thinking "that is no match for a BMW" and the race was on. Little did I know he was running like 450hp or so. I got destroyed. My understanding of "fast" was forever changed. I was no longer satisfied with my 184hp 325xi.

The Search Began

At first I was on the hunt for an E46 M3 and had the opportunity to test drive a few. Don't get my wrong I loved them. I was right about to close on an Alpine White M3 but I decided I'd give the E92 335i a chance before doing so. With all the research I was doing at the time, I kept stumbling upon people raving about the N54 engine. Plus I liked the idea of being able to get a newer car, with less miles, for around the same price.

This is when I stumbled upon a post made by an e90 post forum member jdrdeer . He was selling a 2008 335i coupe in Black Sapphire Metallic. For the sake of keeping this post as short as possible I'll just link that here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=791360

This was my dream car... it had everything I was looking for. I met up with him and remember seeing the OSS angel eyes creep into the parking lot thinking "damn that's a good looking car!" After the test drive I was sold. The overall feel of the car was much tighter than the older M3's I had driven. Unfortunately he was asking $30k and $22k was really the highest I was looking to spend. At the time we couldn't agree on a price so I had to let it go...

Months went by and I just couldn't pull the trigger on another car. Nothing jumped out at me the way this car did so I kept waiting it out. Sure enough, one day in early March of 2013 I got a text saying "$25k takes it". A little bit out of my price range but I couldn't pass it up. This car was so clean, the color scheme was exactly what I wanted. The deal was done.

Day One

The day finally came to pick up the car. March 16th 2013, I pulled into the sellers apartment complex to be greeted by what was officially my 335i. This was the first time I saw it with the AvantGarde wheels and I couldn't believe how aggressive it looked all blacked out. Here's a picture of new vs. old the first day I arrived home:

Modding and caring for this car has has become my biggest hobby and passion (and addiction). I'm sure most of you know where I am coming from... the minute I'm done installing one thing, I immediately have my eyes set on the next thing I "need". It's never ending, and I love it.

Anyway, here is where I am at so far... I will be updating this thread as I obviously have more plans. I also hope to do another professional photo shoot in the near future since I've made some changes since the first shoot seen below.

Shout out to Redline Speed Worx in Green Brook, NJ for the most recent work!

Has forgestar fixed the metallurgy issues they were having with splintering/cracking wheels a couple years ago?

I was never aware of this issue but can say personally I haven’t experienced any cracking or splintering.... and we have some pretty rough pot holes here in NJ.

So you driving pure tubes with mhd ots flags? How does it feel? Stock?
Correct. The farthest thing from stock. The first week I was running them it literally blew my mind everytime I drove the car... power increase was insane. Been about a year now hence why I’m looking for more power/custom tune.

Good to hear.

I am looking at Pure Turbo Stage 2 hi flo when I upgrade. But that's after internals upgraded.
Pistons, rods, rings, bearings, etc...
