Do you have the standard boost box XDF? If so that's all you need, you don't need a specific flex fuel one. Just switch to the boost box one, set the toggles, and switch back to the standard flex fuel one when you're done.

If you don't have the standard boost box XDF, just email Motiv and they'll send it to you.

I emailed them 4 times, never got them to respond even after replying to the email saying my boostbox had been delivered.

Use the BMS BEF xdf’s, they have them in there

I have boost box xdfs I just thought they I needed the flex fuel xdf that had bb toggles. I thought about doing what @nahor said before posting however, I wasn't sure if it that was going to work but thanks for the confirmation.

That should work just fine. I haven't taken the time to add boost box toggles to a Flexfuel XDF.

Hey guys, so i'm pretty adept at tuning regular hybrids and have that dialed down but all this BoostBox stuff confuses me. I'm gonna attempt tuning one this spring season and I was wondering if I should use the regular WGDC tables or switch to the RPM x Boost setpoint table.

Also with WGDC inverted toggled (for BB V3) that means 100 wgdc is effectively 0. So start at 100 and lower the values until I hit my target.

The car has a speedtech with a 6266 pretty dialed in on wg spring.

Have any of the N54 guys tried to run a Pierburg solenoid? I run a DME-controlled Pierburg 7.01024.02.0 boost solenoid on my N55 PWG with a TurboSmart Twin Port B2 TS-0620-3143 wastegate actuator. It's solid, fairly easy to tune and works great. The N55 PWG uses the exact same solenoid as the N54. You should try it. No BoostBox required. No inverted WGDC tables, either. The solenoids are like $40, max.

I have no clue what you are talking about but I am n55 PWG and would love to learn about this mod. Did you post up about it somewhere?

I like to use the RPM x SP personally. I don't have any issues that make me want to use the regular WGDC, but you could and it would be fine too.

Yes, when you toggle the inverted signal 100% DC displayed on "bank 1 wgdc or bank 2" is actually 0%. I just don't even log bank 1 or bank 2 wgdc and just take "wgdc after pid" as my final wgdc being applied to the mac solenoid.

Thanks for the tip. I was speaking to Jake Hershorin (Owner of Motiv) and he said he personally doesn't invert the WGDC on his tunes. Should I set my base wgdc maps to something flat like 30 or 70 (inverted)? I'm have a good enough understanding of pid already.

With the signal inverted. I start low like 15% and add duty cycle in small increments until it starts making more than wastegate.
If you do not invert the signal tho, i'm not sure how you would set it.

I will note that I once forgot to invert the signal on my car and despite the base WGDC being 0, the car demanded all the duty cycle, gates never opened.

I misunderstood his explanation. It only inverts the logic, so the wgdc tables are still the same. Prepared my base tables and will do testing on whether or not I like RPM x Boost Setpoint better or the conventional wgdc tables.

Now its an old post of yours you said you added more overlap in general on your vanos, and looking at the logs you posted on post #19, you seemed to also increase overlap in the top end of the rpm band. Now I've always reduced overlap (intake cam) above 4500 rpm the more boost i've added.

How are you liking your vanos so far? I've also done the opposite to some degree with the exhaust vanos. I increase overlap slightly to change the dynamic compression and hopefully reduce corrections.

Just for clarification when using rpm x setpoint do you zero out the other tables I.e wgdc position table, wgdc dynamic, wgdc adder, wgdc ceiling, and wgdc pre control?

Yes sir. Only need to worry about rpm x SP, PID Tables and D factor.

one more question as far as dealing with boost overshoot. My car is hitting boost target but immediately I get a major throttle closure. My WGDC is duty cycle is set to zero so I’m guessing my P table needs some work. Do I need to increase the values on the right side of the table to stop the overshoot?

Easier to help with logs, but if you're hitting target without any duty cycle it sounds like the target is set too low compared to WG spring.

BB3? Inverted signal toggle checked in your tune?
If yes to both it seems that your WG spring is higher than your target. You can't target lower that WG without throttle intervention. Hardware issue not tuning.

Gotcha I thought the wastegate spring was 14psi but I bought the turbosmart wastegate used so I'm guessing its not lol. That's why I zero out the rpm vs setpoint table to see if maybe I was adding too much WGDC. I was targeting 157 load but I'll up it 171 which should be around 20psi and see what happens.

Report back and I can help you dial it in.

Fixed the overboost issues. Just got to fixed the pid from timing out.and the timing corrections. I think its from my bank 1 o2 sensor.
