I'm in the process of installing a bunch of options that were not in my car when purchased, n54, Sirius. hd iboc module, Bluetooth, logic7, using all oem wiring.

HOLY SHEET. So that is why they say the logic 7 upgrade is not worth it. Damn dude. First of all, I commend your bravery. I've considered this SIMPLY to get the center channel but there are easier ways to get it.

What stereo system did your car have, base or hifi?

Are you interested in a combox retrofit? I've got one for sale.

Well, a few things I've found along the way when doing this. I've been doing a lot of reading about retrofitting OEM options, it seems to be bits and pieces out there. It could be easier to buy the car, but what I have invested in all this is about 1/4 of what a 535 would run. They don't make 06/07 535', and I didn't want awd. So as insurance, it would always be a 25. Installing the logic 7 includes all the speakers, that you would have to run wires for. My 535 didn't have it,just the CCC nav, what it did have was all the antennas and fiber optic cables that I need to install the sirus,hd iboc, and updated Bluetooth module. Another note, the body harness is the same as 07-. lci cars. If I wanted to install the lci door panels, you need the door harnesses.

Both the 07-08 cars came with hifi, just a sub amp. I would be banned if I told you what I've got invested in this, lol. Hint; it's cheaper than a set of turbos. This include my 60k n54 complete.:D

Ah, its a 525 that explains the engine and all the main wiring harnesses. So what is the status on the engine swap, is it bolt on?

The donor car is the 08 535, my car is the 07 525. Everything is bolt in, plug n play. The only modification I need to do is enlarge my transmission for the n54 block, and run a 6hp21 torque converter. The n54 will have pipes, some type in inlets, and a bunch of maintenance done before going in. It's got 60k on it.

Which transmission do you get, the 6hp19? Why not put in the 21?

Also, if you are feeling like experimenting, I have a 6hp28 for sale.

The 3.0 rwd cars came with the 6hp19, the xi cars have the hp21. Same transmission internally, must be a model thing. The top bolt are offset a hair compared to the n52 engines. So when guys are swapping n54 6mt, this is the only mod you have to do. I'm trying to move the parts I can't use, like the awd trans and tcase, the 535 rear looks to have the large diff and axles. I don't think the n52 trans will hold more than 450ft lbs., same with the current diff. The car is wire for the xp21, so that may be the way to go. The hp28 could be an option, seem like 6 speeds isn't enough!

There are subtle changes between the transmissions, mosly its the valvebody and shift speeds.

The 6hp28 requires a bit of custom work on the bell housing. A couple of the bolts line up, to get the others to line up you'll have to have a welder go in there and do a little work. The 21 and 28 are the exact same length.

I can see everything is clearly in flux, but what are you working on right now, is the engine in?

No, engine is out, I'm shooting for this spring, I would like to do crank and conn bearings before it goes in, along with pipes, and some type of inlet, all the things that make it impossible to do when the motor in. Id love to look into a bottom style single and dump the wg issues. That's the only dreaded issue I keep seeing. As far as the body harness, I've looked into the nav wires and all the antennas, I need to run fiber optic to the amp and speaker wires out. I need to wire the front speaker in to the head. Now that I can see what's involved, I would have to strip all my doors, rear deck, seats, and rug to run the wiring. The Sirius, nav and hd are a go!

Looks like there is a factory Sirius connections. That's a plus, I have to confirm, but my car may already be wired for the antennas. Some other info that behind the glovebox, the oem CD player sits. Don't have one of these either:sob:, but I may be able to hook up the iboc there instead. It may be easier just to run it in the rear where it all goes. I need to reneg on my findings about the body harness, as of right now, there is no factory speaker wiring going to the rear doors.

My car already had sirius installed in it, luckily. I don't pay for a siriusxm subscription, I don't see the point since I can stream pandora to the car and the number of times I'm out of cell service and radio reception is very seldom. The one cool part about Sirius is they have the one channel that is free. The problem, is our cars don't play that station, it just says service is disabled.

So an update on the progress of the electronics. A mass of wires like this is intriguing to say the least, I've been pulling the left side apart to single for all the retro upgrades. I'm sure there are kits out there for this, maybe it's to much work for the reward. I'm doing this to see how this for my own amusement. Not much out there for detail work, and I've never seen anyone pull a whole harness out of a car for no aparnent reason. So I found the wiring for the ccc and were it all goes, this came with the 08, I don't know if it's worth running or not, I'd like to try and run the Nbt from an F series. This car didn't come with logic7, Sirius, or HD. The Ntb has all this, and then some, the facia would be the issue. One thing I can say, it's all pretty simple once it's cut open, but dam, there's that one wire that intertwines the harness you need, no sence Bmw! Pics to follow.

So going into the left rear of the harness, pulling all the wiring for nav and the hd upgrade. This gives a great look at the electronics of this car, became I rushed pulling it out, l didn't lable any of the plugs, it doesn't help either I don't have a diagram of this. I have found there is two wires that go into the CCC that also goes to different locations a BLK/yellow wire, and brn/red. May be idrive related.

Finally removed the media side of the harness, nice of them to put it all to one side, and of course, why in the hell don't they keep them separate from the others???? So was runs down that side is media, rear lights, and exhaust valve connector. I bet one could make there own switch to activate the valve if they wanted to. I'm finding out that these modules are all self sufficient, with a power source, and most, it's pretty straightforward. The logic 7 speaker install will not have the rear doors, it's a massive amount of work to run the wiring to and into the doors, and the work on the panels. I've read mixed from the sound between those and the rear deck. I though about a cic nav, the prices are still up there, this was a cheaper way, and I'd rather put that money into the drivetrain. More to follow:D

Small but important details. Finally found pinouts between the msv70 and msv 80, until I can set up my BG cable and software, I'm looking at the wiring thru search. This honestly looks like it's going to be a PNP thru out the car, seeing that there build dates are within 9 months of each other. I stripped that donor car to nothing, and having everything you need for this just makes it more beneficial in the long run. Just going over everything and seeing what's involed, going this route is the easiest way to swap these motors in a na car. Why wouldn't you want 500hp DD ????
