Do you guys think the GTX3584RS will be worthwhile on a 93oct daily driver with a tank here or there on e85 for racing or better off just going with the typical GTW3884/PTE6466 build?

Yeah it 100% depends on if you have a HP goal. If you want 600whp a 6466 is going to be a better choice for you.

A Garrett GTX3582R flows 75 lb/min vs a 6466 flowing 90 lb/min. That is a significant difference and will effect your top end & spool be it on 93 or E85 etc.

...and now I have to have a tuna and bacon sammi for lunch.

He asks for GTX3584RS, which is 90lb/min turbo. GTX3582 Gen 1 is 75lb and gen 2 is around 82lb. And i think 6266 or even 6062 is better for only 600whp if he wants Precision and for Garrett 3582 gen 1 or 2. There is no need of 90lb turbo for only 600whp.

Was mainly asking because of the RS turbine. I guess the answer is an overwhelming no and to go with the 3576 or 3582 for Garrett.

Or a Garrett GTW 3684, the GTW´s are great Turbos with a attraktiv price.
The GTW is not worse as a GTX but cheaper.

Does anyone know how long the wait time is if I purchased one today? I sent a email but wanted to check here.

EDIT: Jeff said 3-4 weeks for next batch.

What heat sinks are y'all using? Saw an ad on CL for vargas heat sinks stating that they didn't fit speedtech's manifold.

2007 e92 335i - STOCK!!!!!!
Hey guys I just joined this forum and am bumping this thread b/c this kit seriously caught my eye. I DD my 335 and love it. My car is slow spooling and i've been messing with my wastegates - long story short I think i have to seriously consider replacing my turbos .. i have 130k on them I drive highway mostly.

I've been following this speedtech kit, my main draw to it is the design, and the fact that ST kits have external wastegates which I value tremendously.

IMO i want a ST that will spool as fast as twins. I saw Daft335i (IG name) is in this thread and i"ve been following him on IG, didn't realize he was running this kit until now but also saw he said he's running 3076 R BB for responsiveness.

I've said it forever that I will either turn my car into a racecar or drive it until the wheels fall off but this kit seems like the next logical step for me.

Can anyone recommend maybe a quick spooling turbo for it? My main goal is to have quicker spools for merging and passing, reliability, and not have to do too many other "upgrades" to my car like higher pressure fuel pumps.

My car is bone stock at this point.

Also I am guessing the "inlet" to this kit is just the air filter directly to the turbo right? And that I would have to buy an aftermarket charge pipe?

I had a 97 civic I turbo'd back in the day so I have familiarity with turbo kits, especially custom made ones, but I am just rusty!

All I know is that this kit seems like the cats ass and also eliminates the basic flaw of the wastegate from the dumb twins!

Edit: I was also unsure of how you run the car after you get this kit? Is there a pre-built tune you can load? My closest tuner is probably almost two hours away so that would be a "thing" I'd have to budget and plan for.

Welcome.

Your car is slow spooling? Anyone diagnose why?

I assume it’s bc boost is leaking from my wastegates
Welcome. Since you’re bone stock with 130K miles and its spooling slowly I’d want to first know how the car has been maintained (has the intake ever been cleaned by Walnut blasting etc) and what stock parts have been replaced (ignition coils, spark plugs, fuel injectors, etc) if any. Then I’d ask you to install MHD and do some proper logs to help establish the current status of your car and determine what other maintenance is required.

I'm totally with you man i've been on a mission for a while to fix it and to just get to MHD stage 1! the biggest improvement was when i adjusted my rear actuator arm, that got me rid of 30ff for a while, but lately I can trigger 30ff again, and I checked the HG and both front and rear seem to be at the same closure point as they were after my initial adjustment, but seems like they are laggier now.

Here are (some of) my maintenance records and some of my logs!

water pump & tstat - 105k
coils, plugs, vac lines - 108k
vanos solenoids, valve cover changed, plugs, coils, boost solenoids, ofhg & ofcg, low pressure fuel sensor, belt/pulleys - 117k
replaced all fluids, and adjusted actuator arm to close at 6hg - 120k
walnut blast - 127k

current mileage 132k and counting +90 mi/weekday

Here are legit pulls after I adjusted my rear actuator arm and got rid of my 30FF

Here are logs of me just testing out my spool up time/wgdc

What fuel do you have access to and do you have a HP goal? Yes you will need a upgraded ic, chargepipe, and BOV at a min.

Any tuner can send you a base map for a single turbo that you can load with MHD. You will then tune on the street so to speak. Log, send log, get new map, rinse and repeat.

Honestly if you want stock like performance just buy stockers or upgraded stock frame etc. If you want more hp than stock. I'm all for single kits but if your goal is 400whp to 500whp twins should be what your go to from a cost perspective. Above 500whp go single and size correctly.

Get a good set from pure or RB. Stay away from the brands that have more failures and drama associated with them given the cost to install(frankenturbo, mmp, vtt, alibaba, etc.)

I guess my reasoning is that the twin kits cost almost as much and i am not convinced any of the twins won’t run into the same wastegate issues regardless of brand.

@Rob@RBTurbo what's a rebuild on stockers go for these days? Also any opinions on longevity one might expect on a FBO 400-ish WHP kind of setup? Assume a few hundred extra for things that one refreshes on the reassembly ...

BTW looks like you've been doing well on the maintenance.

These are great questions. I have been considering RB Two Pluses but the money is just not there YET. My stock turbos are slowly death marching.... but the car is now my weekend car so I can disassemble and send off!

The most exciting development for the N5x platform in a long time, IMO. I'm on my second N54, still on stock twins running FBO and 100% E85 currently. I may try to kill them to upgrade to this, lol. I was considering getting a GT-R in the next year but this has piqued my interest for sure and my delay things for a bit.
