I know the seller personally. This is a tuned and deleted 335d in Chapel Hill area. Carbon cleaning, walnut blasting, FMIC and straight piped - $15k.

I'm actually running his exhaust and intake. Cool dude, for sure. He's working on a N54 prototype FMIC - i'm test fitting it on my 135 build...

Yes we have talked about the intercooler quite a bit. I gave him some ideas I really wanted to try out like.. well he probably told ya ;)

I talked him into slip jointing the rear of the exhaust one night I was there we were test fitting on my car. I think he's glad he did ;)

Looks like around 15k with decent miles. I really want to see what that 6hp28 trans will hold in stock form.

Several of the tranny’s are north of 600 wtq and, to my knowledge, zero issues.

ZF6Hp28

And a stock D is priced as low as $9k to $10k.

I want a D in my life so bad been trying to find the right x5d for a dad mobile/daily. Once i find one i will be sure to pick your brain on mods

The main thing is to delete all the emissions and anything related to DEF usage. Easiest to gut the stock exhaust and reuse it. Carbon cleaning and a good walnut blast is also needed. EGR race pipe to replace the EGR cooler, and block plate for anything related to EGR recirculating. Swirl flap delete and a JR stage 2.8 tune.

Why is M57 BMW's best kept secret and not the newer 335d/535d N57? Can't you do all of the same things to that? I'm kinda interested in getting an F10 535d and straight away deleting all the rubbish and flash tuning it.

Progress has been made on the N57 tuning side; however the M57 is still considered a better platform to handle modification while retaining durability. A quick google search can better answer your question as to the why...

Nothing including plenty of Googling indicates the M57 is any better of a tuning platform. It's just older so more have done it. N57 can be upgraded to M550d HPFP for example.

Timing chain failures are most prevalent and noted issues for the N57. The location of the chain to replace when it goes is now at the rear of the block - not the front of the motor, lack of secondary tuning support or aftermarket support.

I'm not saying the N57 is a bad engine, or poorly designed - simply not as tune friendly as the M57, nor does it have the aftermarket support.

For example, custom Cams, ARP head bolts, and newly developed, Manual transmission swap kits and aftermarket turbo kits are now being tested for market release on the M57, and modified injectors. Until recently - modified stock (hybrid) turbos were only available for the M57 because of the manifold design. This is not compatible with the design of the N57 turbo set-up.

I personally know of a built ZF transmissions that will hold north of 800 whp that has been installed in a 335d.

FWIW - I have a R90 HPFP on the M57 - they can be sourced for $350.00 refurbished.

I do not believe any of this support exists for the N57 at this time.
