Hey guys, I am installing a walbro in my e89 Z4 and am wondering if I need to get new corrugated fuel line coming off pump or if it is re-useable? I can’t seem to get it off the pump outlet. Should I try heating up the hose or will this damage it?

Also noticed the fuel filter sock (strainer) is pretty dirty. Found some lime green particles in it? Are these available from dealer or should I use an aftermarket one?

I don't recall when we did my Z4 beyond it being a royal PITA under the car. I also went ahead and replaced the filter assembly (not much $$$ in the grand scheme of dumping wheelbarrows of money). Someone will come along and tell you - mine was Fuel-It so I missed this bit of fun. Good luck.

Your pump should have come with a new sock.

The driver side hat or wherever the filter/fpr is located on an e89 is a service item that is to be replaced since the filter alone cannot be removed

If you can get the Bosch part number for the fuel filter it will be a lot cheaper, just did that on my M5

Updatefound some fuel hoses on Amazon. Just have to heat up and slip on barbs. Oetinger / fuel injection hose clamps to secure.

Also found a sock (strainer) on Amazon. Didn’t fit like the stock one but was able to cram it in the housing.

Strange the stock pump was actually larger (longer) then the factory pump. Same width so it went right in. I would be interested to see just how it compares to the 450 pump.

If you go Oetiker, make real sure that you get the right size and a good crimp. Given it is hidden in the tank, you won't know that you got a good seal.

I really don’t think the clamps are needed in this case as the factory does not use clamps. Just extra insurance as you don’t want these coming off! If you heat the hose up and push it on snuggly they form to the barb and are impossible to get off unless they are cut. I’m just hoping these aftermarket hoses hold up over time. These type of hoses are well known to split over time as this happened in my 996tt.
