X5D best tuned/deleted 1/4 mile runs?

oh and first things first, make sure the rain trays below the windshield have been replaced, as they like to crack over time and they leak water onto the top of the engine. It then drains through the two rear bolts holding the dress cover on, and down around the #5 and #6 injectors, eventually rusting them out and causing failures. At $330 each its worthwhile to prevent them from failing.

Your entry point of $10k is going to get you either very high mileage LCIs or a pre-LCI model, which IMO doesnt look as good and has the older/smaller I drive. There are some great deals out there right now, I believe the guys from tunemyeuro.com (Andrew Rodriguez) may have a fully worked truck for something like $13k. Has a lot of hwy miles but Id buy anything from him, hes a great guy and a great mechanic.

New solenoids, mechatronic sleeve, the 4 rubber seals between the valve body and housing, new pan with filter and fluid. Never been changed in 115k so might as well do it now and freshen it up. Going with a tune from Rod Sutphin to firm up the shifts a bit and stop the hunting for gears, BMW has a weird program in it where it likes to hang up in 2nd gear to warm the engine/trans fluid up and its annoying, not to mention the converter stays unlocked until it warms up, creates a lot of slippage and drives like a CVT....

All stuff I probably need to do to my gas 6hp. Where are you getting your parts?

I've been talking to Rod about a tune for my gasser when hes ready as well.

Thats what i've been seeing, i'm not one to be scared of miles and i'd definitely rather get an LCI.

I'll look into the tunemyeuro guys truck.

I think the trans if anything is the weak spot...but if you regularly change the fluid it should go a very long time. It's built like a tank but like all things, if you neglect it, game over.

Yeah I flushed mine at 130k because I had no idea if it was ever done. It had been done before as the fluid was not super old. I figure once every 100k.

I am guessing the tranny flash app will crisp up the shifts etc. I wonder if it will make the transmission last longer or shorter. I can see arguments for both.

6HP26 - rated for a maximum input torque of 600 newton metres (443 lbf⋅ft). The 6HP32 is a variation of the 6HP26 for high-output applications. The gearbox's maximum input torque is 750 N⋅m (550 lb⋅ft).

The 8HP holds alot more tq. If the 6 goes I would think an 8 swap would make the most sense.

This is a current topic on the FB group. Evan Patak is looking at doing 3.15 diffs from an F15 and the topic came up of the 8HP box swap. Rod unfortunately is not capable of cracking the tcu on it just yet.

Another person with a tuned E70 chiming in, well worth it IMO. Very peppy and I've had a few tanks of 28-31mph 80/20 mixed hwy (65-70)/city driving. Seems to coast along without a care in the world, although I have been noticing intermittent hiccups from 2.5-2.8k rpm under mild+ acceleration. I'm planning to do a trans fluid change on it soon.

For parts I went with the following from TuneMyEuro, it totaled at about $2,500:
Buzzken Exhaust
JR Stage 2.8 Tune
EGR Delete pipe
Swirl Flap block offs

I wasn't able to do the work myself, apartment and it being winter so I had that done by Kelly Moss up in Madison, WI. That was probably another $2,500 in labor, misc parts, and a couple dyno pulls. My experience was probably a bit on the high $$ side but the car had codes for the DPF and I was approaching the 200 mile shutdown.

Try running some hotshots extreme though it, sounds like you may have an injector issue arising. I'd pull the cover and check to see you're not getting water down in there.

Thanks for the tip, I'll grab some additive tonight and check under the cover. I read about the injector issue but it slipped my mind to check last night while changing oil. Can toss that in there and I'll have a week before I get the trans parts to see if it helps.

I don't have the full chart, thought it was kind of weird but it peaked out at about 471WTQ / 290WHP on a mustang dyno. I'd assume that's enough to validate the 600TQ / 360HP at the crank claims JR has on the tune. One thing I never noticed was that the sheet says ENG on it, when I was there they said that was the reading at the wheels since they weren't factoring drivetrain losses.

God I hate all dynos other than dynojet for that exact reason. They can edit variables to make guesstimates on power etc. Were they trying to calc eng/flywheel HP/TQ vs. wheel?

I ran my 11 x5d w/ jbd at around 60 percent for kicks at the local 1/8 track. Ran 9.6@72 so pretty slow lol

All things considered, not terrible.

I know guys who can pull that off in a tuned n54 stick car :lol:

I saw that on drag times as well. I am guessing he got the 1/8 mile E/T wrong. That being said if the et and trap for the 1/4 is accurate, that is not bad at all. After a tune and delete I will take it back and run it again for a comparison.

Anyone have the x5 35d bov turbosmart installed? If so do you like it?

Seems kind of pricey just for a BOV. Some sites claim it will help the stock snails last longer, which I get...I'm just curious about it.

No BOV here. Just the standard charge piping. Although I may need to refix my repairs to the cold pipe, after it popped off and the PS pulley chewed a hole in it. Did the plastic repair by getting a red hot screwdriver to melt the plastic back over the hole lol.

No sense in needing a BOV I think.

I have a my18 n55 x5 and the zf8 is insane. Im praying my pd upgrade feels close to it when in sport or higher especially with the shifter in sport as well shifts sound and feel amazing. Feels like a lenko. Launch control is nuts to. I looked into fmic upgrades and found the x5 came with larger then other n5x cars. I only have a stage 1 tune I sometimes play with stage 2 but without dp it isn't worth risk to me and I'm under warranty so theirs that to.

I run the Hot Shot See (HSS) products on both my diesel.
HSS EDT - every tank fill-up, mostly to increase lubricity for the fuel system. That's my single greatest concern. I only gas up at Shell and Exxon.
HSS Diesel Extreme - once or twice a year just to keep everything clean.
HSS FR3 or Liquimoly Ceratec - oil additive package with each wheel change.

Is it worth it? first of all I buy the hot shot secret products at a big discount. Did you some really good deals on supplying additional free product and free shipping when you buy. So I don't find the cost to be that much. FR3 is really impressive. I can barely hear the engine run when I have that in the oil.

On the rest we don't know. Cheap insurance hopefully.
