hello everyone. Thank you very much for the help you give us.

A few days ago my number 3 cylinder decided not to work anymore... 80 psi of compression, the vehicle is running 680whp.

I have decided to forge the engine to be handling this power in a "safe" way.

It is inevitable to think about Chinese kits ( KINGTEC ) It is a great money saver and from what I have seen there are several using them... does anyone of you have any real experience with this?

Sorry for my english ... I from Chile. Thnks a lot !

I have a set that I plan on using to build a forged rod/piston motor. Will post update when I get a chance to measure them.

Did you try allready?
I have not. I still need to yank the motor out of my E60 to rebuild. I’ve been having so much fun with my F10 and G30, that the poor E60 has been sitting there. Hoping to get it back up and running this year. I just built a shop to make it easier to work on my cars.

how much did you pay for yours? Im in talks w them and 1000 shipped to my door. I feel like i can get them cheaper. Currently have the epoxy, wagner 11mm headstuds, and everything else to put them in except the rods and pistons lol.

If you want something better quality.....check out the coated Mahle Forged powerpack pistons. I bought a set a few months ago, I think they were around $900 if I remember right. Lots of good vendors sell them online. You can also get a set of Manley forged rods for around $800 if you look around online. Probably the best combo you can get for the money, and you don't have to roll the dice on the offbrand stuff.

I think I paid about 1100 for them. I ended up letting one of my buddies use them, and I think he will be building his motor soon. I am honestly thinking about testing my theory that it's the tight ring gap that killed my motor, assuming I do not see any signs of detonation upon disassembly. I could not see anything with my bore scope. my E60 535ix has upgraded turbos and the fuel system to support quite a bit of power. I think I need to put it back together, so i can get it quicker than my F10 535ix

Thanks in advance if you decide to test just the ring gap - costly risk, but good knowledge for the community👍

I cracked a piston ringland on my engine last year. Definitely caused by narrow rings gaps and lots of boost/heat. The factory ring gaps (from what I measured on my engine) were around .010"-.12"......that's way too tight for a boosted motor making 20+psi of boost. Most all aftermarket piston manufactures recommend something around .025"-.027+" for a boosted motor with an 84mm bore (N54). With the heat builds, the rings expand.....when the ends touch each other, well....something's got to give. From what I've seen online and all the FB groups....cranked/broken ringlands are not that uncommon in these motors, even at sub-600hp levels.

My new motor is running .025" ring gaps...so I shouldn't have an issue again (and I went with forged pistons).
