NGK 1 Step Colder (95770) superceded by 97968

Hi all

There has been a shortage of 95770 plugs recently and it appears it's been discontinued.

The replacement is 97968 from various websites

I emailed NGK for a technical difference, I've attached the email but essentially they say there is no difference.

Has anyone ran them yet? I sent them back before I realised they were the new part number. They seem cheap enough, I got the 6 for £54

How does the plug end look?same as 95770?if you get a chance shoot a picture.

We got the same message from NGK and have the new plugs on order. Will post up after we've had a chance to test em out.

I was actually waiting for someone to start this topic/thinking about starting it myself. I work for O’reilly and about April last year I noticed there was a major shortage of 95770. Checked last week to see if there was an update and it also says “Superceded by 97968”

Perhaps they get built at a different factory or a different contract manufacturer?

Does NGK and other plug retailers actually manufacturer all of their plugs or do they sub some or all of it out?

After getting a ton of shit fakes i believe from Amazon, in the 95770, the porcelain kept breaking. I decided enough is enough, and then dealing with the number change, just got 9 for 11.19 a piece through oreilly so i know they're not junk. Backups in case. Just have them price match to rockauto.
