Searched through this thread/channel and totally realized that your NoFlyZone video was the one that really got me intrigued into buying an N54 vehicle. Glad to see that you are making progress and that the car is going to be even faster!

Haha, I've heard that quite a few times actually. It's definitely a popular video with 250k+ views. I think a lot of people that weren't familiar with these cars were impressed with the power of an N54, even with stock turbos.

Walnut blasted the valves on the new motor so I didn't have to break my back and remove the intake manifold later.

Then.................. the new motor found it's home!

Looks good! Those walnut blasting before/afters always seem so fake because they get cleaned up real nice.

I was skeptical of that particular blaster and got the 20lb metal tank from HF. I take it that one worked with no issues, or do you have any complaints with it?

No complaints here. I've used it two times already for intake valve cleaning. What were you worried about?

I still use a small pick to break things up if it doesn't get everything the first time around.

Thanks! If you want to PM me, maybe we can work something out. I dabble in multimedia and graphic arts myself, but always like seeing other people's work. I was actually going to try to put together a channel intro/outro soon. I kind of wanted to wait until I had some single turbo footage, but I could always revise it.

If anyone is curious about the walnut blasting procedure, I actually put a DIY video together. I figure there are enough people on here that need the job done, no sense in paying a shop to do it. I've listed all the supplies needed to do the job for around $100 and walk you through the process.

I've been using the exact setup on over 40 cars now (BMW & Mini) and all has been great. You'll want at least a 20gl compressor tank. I cracked the vacuum adapter after ~25 cars, but it was replaced for free by bimmerhelp. His new 3D printed design is a bit more study.

Stuff happened this weekend! I was able to try starting the car...

As you can see in the video, there are still things that need to be finished. Everything went smoothly, hoping to have the car back together next weekend and take it for a drive!

What was the smoke on start up? Some oil on exhaust parts? Or just burning in the exhaust heat warp?

It was a mix of the primed oil lines and the wet cylinders from a compression test, and some burning heat wrap. It quickly went away after the car idled.
