I could probably have that arranged. It would have to be scheduled in sometime when its not in use by the company I work for. We'd have to find someone with an M3 local to me, I don't know anyone with one personally.
I used a FARO Focus S that is typically used in crash forensics or large area scanning. We use it to scan the inside of facilities to layout machinery and assembly lines for our RailCar manufacturing business. Great for getting the outside of the car, but I couldn't get any real detail of the engine bay. I'll be picking up a handheld scanner soon to do that.
By the way laser scanning is not my job, they just let me borrow it so those scans were my first attempt. I already know what to do next time to get better scans. AND IT TAKES ALL DAY. Man I didn't realize how boring it would be. lol
Interesting, I just want to get an accurate 3D model of the outside so it can be used in 3d modeling software, something that has proper scale. Having an E92 335i and M3 would be idea.
