Not the new 2JZ that is for sure. I was hanging out the entire weekend with my buddy who has a nice supra talking shit about the new one. If you don't want to give it the S58 at least the S55 or you know Toyota go build your own engine, you are fully capable of it.

So many things on it scream 'not for an enthusiast' some can be fixed some can't.

I am sure it will get a lot of aftermarket support...It would not surprise me if engine swaps are common.

The head design on the exhaust port from a flow perspective is terrible. This reminds me when Honda went from a K20A head design to a K20C head design, where all 4 exhaust ports merged into 1 exhaust port.

Line up the fan boi's! lol ... seriously the way this will roll is just like the video ... it is near ostensibly a BMW engine end to end, and yet they are all blabbing Toyota blah blah blah. What was noted, BMW-wise? About zippo. Basically the Japanese likely and justly should receive credit for reliability aspects of the overall car (and some BMW-specific components) but let's be real ... Toyota is riding on the back of a BMW platform, not the other way around. Scion FRS, eh?

That is a VERY good analogy. The only good news is a top or bottom mount turbo manifold should be dead simple to design and cost little. So people will have aftermarket turbo options soon.

I guarantee the claim of the shop in the video that they will hit 1000hp is bogus. At least in WHP unless they want the most useless power curve. BHP sure as the N55 Big Boost record is what 700whp? So all they need is ~8-850whp to claim ~1000 BHP I guess? It's just a newer N55 in a worse design for the aftermarket. For a car that is designed so much for the aftermarket with all the weird stuff Toyota did:
the engine and weird head is going to be what holds the car back.

1st supra @ 1000whp will be with an engine swap. LS or 2JZ would be my guess.

Makes no sense to put that head on it. The same thing they did on the Mustang Ecoboost, people wanting to make power had to swap the 4 port head from the 2.0 onto the 2.3. My guess is the same thing will happen here. 6 port head from the B58 or S58 will make its way onto these cars looking for big power.

Our first B58 offering. Which is a Stage 1 will bolt right onto these cars, we will be sending one to our partners in PR for testing shortly. Our B58 GC will require us to cast a manifold to fit these cars as the current manifold is 6 port, everything else should be plug, and play.

Dont get me wrong, i love the car. I have no issue with the BMW underpinnings, I honestly like that, as much as I would have liked to see a Toyota I6 in it. And aside from out and out capability engine power wise with mods, it out performs the old car in every way. As it should 20 years later.

I dont like that its so small compared to the old one, small gripe. But Im also not buying one, so my opinion is irrelevant

That is how the ecoboost 2.0's are designed as well. Seems headifolds are popular. I assume it is probably a cheaper manufacturing technique?

It's really good for efficiency/emissions from my understanding.

As a former MKIV owner, I was initially disappointed with the MKV, but it's begun to grow on me. The aftermarket will come to life soon and these things may be making some close-to-ridiculous power.

I hope you are right because no one can make close-to-ridiculous power on the n52, n53, n54, n55, or B58 yet. No one has topped 1k whp.

S55 already is making 1300 right 3 years old?

The percentage of people who will want to make north of 700WHP will be miniscule, just like Most MKIV owners. People act like they all ran around making 700-1000WHP. I regularly beat Supras in my turbo Civic 20+ years ago.

Supra owners will modify this further than any bmw owner.

To many bmw owners are occupied with aesthetic mods like carbon intakes and outlet pipes for tiny turbos.

How many bmws have 7675 turbos?
How many remove direct injection?

Well, the Supra just hit the 500hp mark with downpipe, 100oct and tune.

Show me how you build for an enthusiast that also has to pass increasingly stringent euro emissions laws?
Would you rather they pass coolant through a seperate exh manifold resulting in heavier, potentially more unreliable construction, risk of failure and the ensuing lols from keyboard engine designers?
People really expect too much and are unrealistic, that's the truth.

JZs are also boat anchors. I said it. Anyway, this certainly does away with "N54 is the modern 2JZ" sprawled across the internets. It never was.

Here I am waiting for someone to snap and post some pics of the chassis, subframe. Does it have 3'er quality crap or M arms/subframe/knuckles? It's all in the details and everyone is wasting time on a DynoJet. lol... Does the Z4/Supra continue with a mish mash of compromised suspension components or have they finally done away with that approach?

Only thing I've seen to come out is Apex PO in Europe listed an "Active M diff" on the option sheet. F8x gear, nice if true.
