After some searching for no real good alternative to our expansion tanks, especially when we relocate it, decided to make my own. After designing, I see that doc race plans to release a billet version of it (very purty piece). This is prototype one, am making another prototype that mimics the stock tank, but shorter/compact to fit in the typical relocation spot (as well as a new power steering res, soon to come).

Here is the progress so far, fits above the fan, waiting on a cap/bungs to finish, as well as some mounting brackets. 20180605_214317.jpg 20180605_214308.jpg

Looks good man. I am going to work with VIE to do a dual coolant and power steering res. I don’t want to do it above the rad because I put in the diesel air snorkel.

This is just prototype one. The other is going to go in the spot you normally relocate the stock to, on the driver side but it fits much better lol. And ive done plenty of combo units in the past with oil catch can/coolant overflows, not a bad idea actually with power steering and expansion tank.

Yeah I vent PCV to air so I don’t really need the catch can. But it’s be nice ditch the leaky PS reservoir.

Still waiting on the caps to arrive. Been messing around with a few ideas to keep the stock sensor to prevent any warning lights. . .

I wonder if it can be made to have ducts to still route the air to the passenger side? I may be interested if someone did that.

This is prototype 1. The other one im making will fit on the driver side where its normally relocated too, but fit much nicer.

This one is just easier to test out the stock sensor on.

I have no interested in the relocated one, I was just curious if there could be a center mounted version that doesn't block the air flow, but instead has passages somehow to direct airflow to the passenger side by the intake cones This would probably be too complicated but, hey I like things that way.

20180610_165010.jpg Got the stock sensor mounted. It has its own chamber inside so no coolant touches the sensor (just like stock, so should work like stock). Just need to modify the sensor a little (cut off the ears)

I am about to try the x5 tank in my car since im putting in a forward facing intake. If that doesnt work im not sure what my plan is. Cant wait to see your next design!

20180612_191003.jpg 20180612_190955.jpg Mounting tabs and cap welded. Not sure i like this mounting but its limited to options here. Gonna work on the other version this week, while i am testing this one to see how well the stock sensor works.

Gonna start prototype 2 this weekend. These will be for sale. Testing this one so far, and it works excellent. Same with the stock sensor, which is awesome!
