BTW, how did you solve the intake? Can you show me your engine bay?
Nice build for sure! 135i will always be superior to the 335i cause of the brakes and overall platform advantages.
Who were you speaking to on this post?

Yeah I would be glad to share some pictures.

so we figured out how to disable the MAF a couple weeks ago which opened the door to make a short intake.

Made one in cad and 3d printed the final version in carbon fiber reinforced nylon. It came out great and has survived three drives without issue. Let me know if you need any additional pictures.

Bummer the tune didn’t work, but it will get figured out soon I’m sure.

Since you guys are open to share your findings i can give you some tips. For the Pure 750, even with an aftermarket manifold there is one
intake that works perfectly and is based on the short ram technology. The only thing you need to adjust is the bracket at the filter location but i can send some pics later. You can close the hood perfectly fine.

Injen 335i Cold Air Intake

If you go the route houtan did you can use an air duct that flows the air to the passenger side where you have your filter directly at the turbo:

Passenger Side Air Duct

The 135i might need slight adjustments. But i believe there is a guy here in the forum that has built his own solution.

Tested and works as expected. I dropped compressor characteristics based on your log and only set load ceiling to 210.

I wasn't able to flash your bin so I copied all changes over to my stock bin.

Test log

Do a compare against this bin and the last one I sent. See what else is diff between them. I suspect there are changes in your stock bin.

I believe the injen is the best aftermarket solution as well. That’s what I have been running for a long time. Except, I decided to keep the stock snorkel and slightly modify it since it utilizes both air inlets to push air to the filter.

I had shortened it recently to work with the relocated coolant tank reservoir, but it still works great.

Nelson Racing also has a hot side snorkel which I’m hoping goes on sale for Black Friday. I don’t like giving money to companies that don’t have a phone number but it’s slim pickings with regards to options.

The other option is the 120D snorkel which @CalvinNismo is going to try.

@Stokes Muchas gracias, will check that out. Havent had any issues with any other BMW so far and i already tuned couple of them. I will be looking to get a RAM logger that will give me access to all PIDs. I do also have my own dyno, so once Boost is under Control and there are no issues with fuelling i will be adjusting the VANOS. Might share with you both some insights so you can improve spooling and top end performance :)

I did not get a chance to, but Chris did in the log he posted earlier. I believe it worked. I will try it today.

I used the RPM by Gear table (1x11) that @valpfrmnc provided the address for. It worked. I was having subtle misfires, but it didn't go into limp mode this time. I swapped plugs and now it's running strong. For me, the tq. lim I was getting was truely misfires, but I'd rather feel it and let off than have to reset the codes every time.

I have actually been trimming the fat today. The photos make it look like a cleaner trim job than it is, but it should clean up nicely with more work.

Edit: This duct unfortunately won’t work without major cutting and plastic welding. I am not attempting a hot side intake on an N52. 😂

and for me, i am not having misfires but getting the misfire code on a good log. so i will test to see if the table resolves this issue as well similar to how completely disabling misfire detection via CDMD did for me yesterday.

@houtan I was asking about your built.
@Stokes Unfortunately same thing, it keeps the target load down and closing the throttle

Log
So I was looking at the tune Chris (Stokes) gave you to try and after comparing it to my tune(s) I wanted to throw a couple things for you to try. The only reason I suggest these changes is because they are quit different than what has been working for me (and most likely many others). Below is a screenshot of the tables and values I have but I can update the modified BIN that Chris posted yesterday for you to try. They may not make a difference but something to try.

Came across another N54 thread talking about high boost misfires and there was an interesting proposed cause to the phantom misfire. Please see Post 36 here: https://www.spoolstreet.com/threads/unsolvable-cyl-5-misfire-tried-everything.8974/page-2

Is there any way to see if we have a table similar to the “air mass threshold release KNK” table identified in that post? Would be nice if this was the reason it occurs, then we have an explanation.

@JPuehl Thank you, will check those tables. I did indeed already add them initially to my mappack for tuning but havent touched them.
@houtan There are internal borders for the airmass control and that might be limiting it on top. I will check the FR for this matter and can report if i can find anything. BTW i am German so for me its easier to find those tables and understand them.

BTW, i was overboosting to 26-28 psi even if target was still 16-18 and i also run into misfires. How are those present with your cars? Are you really feeling misfires in the type of fuel cuts or shakes or the car just goes into limp mode?

Before adjusting the misfire detection table, mine would go into limp mode with a tq. Limit value of 65536. After turning misfire detection off, I was experiencing real misfire (slight shudder). After swapping plugs, I don't experience misfire anymore... At this time. Not sure that helps any.
