In the middle of relocating my coolant tank and have hit a snag. My plan was to remove the 3-way fitting on the pump outlet and replace with a 90. To my surprise I cannot find a part number for a 90 fitting. I have just found a 45 made by Dorman. Does anyone know of a part# for a 90 fitting? I should have just plugged the 3-way! I can probably use the 45 but it would put tension on the hose and I would have to file off the tabs on the connector to orient it correctly. On the drivers side I just T’d into the line. What to do?

I am super surprised you were able to find any Dorman fittings for sale. When I was searching, I couldn’t find them anywhere.

Everything you need is already on the car. Just have to move them around.
The Y from the therno goes to the bottom of the upper rad and the 90 that was there goes to the thermo.
Then the only new hose you need is a section from the thermo to the heater pipe.

Like so (you may need that photobucket add-on)

The Z4 does not have a 90 fitting on the upper rad. It is a 45 which doesn’t help unfortunately.

Anyone have the part# to the Y fitting? I think the only way here is to plug one side. Too bad I ruined mine when I took it off.

Shoot.
Well the Dorman (VW) fittings are clocked different. You have to shave down the nubs on the BMW side to get them to rotate correct.
I still have them somewhere if you happen to want them.

I think I found a solution. I was looking at bmw coolant lines on eBay and saw the X5 has a 90 of its reservoir. Going to buy a used hose w/fitting for $10 and use the fitting from it. Looks like it’s clocked correctly too.
