That is interesting to hear as I have not experienced that. They(Jake) usually gets back to me in under 3 days when they were tuning my stock twins. He helped diagnose that my twins were shot vs. an exterior problem. Very often he would get back to me in 1 day. I am sure it depends on their family life/vacations/how busy they are as I know all the guys have full time jobs and they do this on the side. There are also more employees there now vs. Jake doing it all which is how it was before I believe. When they 'were' PTF Jake was pretty responsive as well, he tuned my old e90 and I never had a complaint about waiting for new map revisions. That being said, I am also never really in a rush and can handle waiting some time as I have a DD.

That all being said I am sure some people have experienced that wait time you are describing with remote tuning and motiv.

One thing that is nice you can reserve them on say a Saturday for remote dyno tuning if you pay $$$ or I believe they will come and do it in person if you pay enough $$$ as well.

One final positive note for Motiv, other than everything I said in my post above, is I think they have been flash tuning(jake) longer than anyone else on this platform by at least a year or two.

I'm still pending a response to my initial request by them that is over a year old :joycat: The boards are collectively full of availability problems with Motiv, and collectively full of how awesome they are when they become engaged.

As for the first flash tuner...not by a long shot. Cobb was the first. They also pulled the eject lever quicker than any other vendor. They must have heard that all the Honda boys were buying up N54's and so they bailed before it got bad.

From some insider info, I know that Cobb never did the original development to flash the n54, they bought the IP to do it and then didn't have the in house expertise with respect to the N54 after a key person left so they chose not to pursue it further.

BQTuning here. Dimitri is working my flex fuel tune now, and did my 93 before. He's responsive and gets customer service, which helps since this is a back and forth activity, especially if one does upgrades. He has a bit of a brotherhood following in the Z4 redheaded stepchild world ... which means that's six of his clients :tonguewink: ... but second to his responsiveness, he is also working improvements on the platform (like his 740i intake conversion for the Z4 N54). His grasp is beyond table editing. Classy guy and smart - I recommend him.

As for the first flash tuner...not by a long shot. Cobb was the first.

Even then, Jake H (at PTF at the time) was the go-to for pro-tunes flashed via Cobb as well. He got flown around to dyno tune a couple of the very first big builds in person.

and then didn't have the in house expertise with respect to the N54 after a key person left so they chose not to pursue it further.

This is not really true. They bailed because Shiv + Rombinhood reverse engineered all of their work and they were salty, so they stopped support. Makes sense, as they didn't want any future work to be stolen either. I would do the same thing if it happened to me, which is why people should always support the innovators, not the copy cats.

After Shiv + Rombinhood copied all they could from Cobb and released the OFT (open flash tablet), what further development did they do? None, because they aren't smart enough to.

Jake H is an amazing tuner (and guy). He knows a lot more than he lets on. And i'm very lucky to have him fly down and tune my car in person. Although it's hard to break a world record when you tuner holds it. Heheo_O

i know Jake H from Mazda days prior to all this BMW stuff which dates back over a decade ago. and ive been doing what i do, even way before that. back before the whole social media boom, haha. Ive been and still do many other platforms outside BMW.

Jakes always been a good dude since i've known and known of him.

i'm sure he can attest,

but when you're getting dozens to hundreds of pms, emails, phone calls and etc daily weekly, and monthly. sometimes things get lost in the mix or things take longer to respond to. Unfortunately many customers dont understand just how busy things are. all they know is they paid a couple to few hundred bucks for a tune and expect you to be available at their every call or message 24/7. expect you to be their mechanic, tuner, diagnostic machine, psychic, and etc, lol.

I personally try to respond to everyone, paid customer or not whenever a message or email comes through, and im sure Jake does as well. All we ask is people be patient while we give you the car you want.

Hell, im working through about 130 emails right now. and its like that weekly lol.
