In case you guys were wondering (and I know you all are hahaha), the M3 diff is internally balanced....and on some builds externally counter balanced via different weighted bolts for where the driveshaft bolts to the diff :flushed:.

Guess what I didn't get when I bought my diff...if you guessed the matching bolt set that would be a bingo.

The good news is you can buy these bolts from BMW and the diff is color marked to indicate what bolt you need. The bad news is the bolts are custom order only and take weeks to get in.

Side note: I can bolt it up with regular bolts for testing but might experience a slight buzz or vibration until the correct weighted bolt comes in.

Yep. I waited about 4 weeks for the green bolt. Here's a good pdf that breaks it down.

Back to this topic...we don't know if the BIN files this thing pulls are open or if they are encrypted. If they are open HEX then we can try doing some reverse engineering fairly simply (even *I* could help). If they are encrypted that would limit our test audience significantly. I only know of two people who have cracked encrypted BIN files...and neither of them have a single second of time they could devote to transmission work.

Did we ever get 100% confirmation that this thing can flash modified bins to the TCU? This seemed just way too vague for my confidence. Perhaps its just a standalone WinKFP or whatever software you use to do the TCU flashes with stock bins.

If it does, we can just take $1000 core charges from people and refund $900 when we get it back or something like this.

Guys,

The trick to flashing any modified bin is understanding the seed keys depending on the processor, this will open it up.

Winkfp can be tricked into flashing a modified file also and this is pretty much a way to use it to do the heavy lifting and probably how most figure out how to flash them

Just an update, @TireDeathRacing sent me a log and so far it looks good. I built the map straight from his MHD bin update. Everything is stock for boost control, timing, vanos. I only modified the tables that affect the DCT performance and what matters to the TCU. No WOT yet, I have asked him to give it couple more days to adjust and relearn as I still see spots that appears to be adapting if Im interpreting certain events correctly.

I forgot to ask, what has become of the Sport button wire, is this used for another purpose or not used at all ? If its not being used at all why not make a button for it ? Above the tray there are blanks to install on/off buttons.
It's being used as the drivelogic input.

The Drivelogic mode selection switch uses the Sport button connections. Rather than on/off for the IS, it has 6 levels. If in doubt, 5 or 6 would be full-on Sport mode. I don't think anyone has done a log in each mode to see if there are any changes between them on the DME logged side or, if they have, I haven't seen the posts.

The sport button is connected to the non M GWS and that generate the CAN message for the DME. A CAN shield has been discussed to generate the message but no work has been done yet
