Double bonus ... he claims it works with 335d (the not so well known E90 hotrod ... anyone ever driven one full deletes, hybrid turbos, etc - like a catapult). I'd love to have this in my E70 X5 but doesn't seem like the xDrive part has been cooked yet.

8HP is the first automatic transmission I've ever driven that I'd call superb. It is phenomenal. And mine wasn't even SAT or tuned.

Would a GA8HP70Z from a X5 35i not work for AWD?

No the 2011 E71 X5
Damn well that's an interesting point. Never thought about looking at euro models. The trans is certainly the same. I'll ask a friend in Europe who is a BMW tech what the difference is between their 6HP M57 and 8HP M57. Thanks for the tip.

Problem is the cost of the gearbox, rebuilds or upgrades, you'll need to rob the mint to afford this if something was to go wrong.

Definitely opens up options but only for a selected few.

Maybe from the many cars that go missing in Europe lol.

Seriously you won't find a cheap anywhere else and they are scarce to begin with.

If you look on ebay they start at around 3k AUD plus shipping and most ebay sellers cant be trusted as most are fraudsters especially the dismantlers.

I think so )) At our auto dismantling sites, prices are low. The warranty is given for a month. One of the few advantages of a totalitarian state.)))

If the adapter plate fits a m57 you should be able to use a trans out of the 2011 x5 35i x drive. But they are only 8hp45. The only awd suv that contained a 8hp75 were the M models i believe.

Same. Tons of them in the 500-800 USD price. Plenty of BMW ones for sale, but the 8HP70 was used in other brand cars here as well - don't know if they are identical insofar as guts. But regardless can be had plentifully cheap here.

Yes x drive not support now , but you can instalation xdrive transfer in 6hp , then will working Like OEM
Also working in ecu manual mode but then not have limited power when change gear

I have been watching this for months now, and it is very impressive... the only issue is cost and complexity of installation. Make no mistake I am not knocking what Turbo Lamik is doing at all theyre obviously brilliant guys and I wish them success.

That said... $2500 sounds great, except its really not the full picture... thats $2500 without international shipping/import/tax fees, transmission, coding and all the other stuff thats needed. I did a solid estimate the other day to get a real world price on what it would cost. No labor youre looking at about $5000+ USD. Thats his kit w/tcu, wiring harness, shifter, a 1k USD (potentially more) donor trans sub 100k miles, pan/filter, seals/fluid and shipping to the US with import fees/taxes. Add another 1k to 2k for installation & coding as well as any other "uknowns" like plumbing transmission lines.I think its safe to say most people who pay a shop to do the installation are looking at about 6-7k+ USD minimum.

If any of you or someone you know buy it and gets it going, be sure they keep a good record of cost... and document the process.... post about their experience. I have no doubt its an amazing setup and will be really fun to drive. Maybe in the future we will offer our own 8HP setup with stock TCU, but for now this is the only option I have seen thats viable.

6hp28 has a good shot of it . Matt satnjer has one in his m57 triple compound turbo and he's making about 950 ft lbs out of a stock tuned transmission
