My ChemE brother, large and/or amphiphilic molecules are good for lubrication. Polymers of course. Long chain alkyls, possibly polyols that mix well with alcohol, etc. :)
H20 is water

Just trying fit in seriously though I remember dehydration synthesis , hydrolysis and valence electron I'm set for some breaking bad in this n54 my cook still would prob be more consistent than my car lmao

@SpoolPerformance as I understand it, until the tables are released, one does not have the ability to have one's own tuner integrate the Helix properly with the N54 DME. Is that correct? So the only option, if buying, is to have Wedge tune?

If you could clarify? I assume I have this wrong as it doesn't make sense to me that the product would be released incomplete.

Thanks!

Pretty sure BQ has them too.

So what is the community failure analysis on this one ...

How how long are the mounting bolts, that are used with the OD unit?

Pretty sure BQ has them too.
Cool. Will be nice when we have clarity on the tuners that can tune the Helix setup.

"I" didn't.
It's result of someone I know who's using a Helix.

My take is weight and TQ of the unit.
Helix claims bad casting.
Yeah, I don’t know. I can’t imagine the unit weighs enough to rip those ears off and leave the bottom two fully intact. A bad casting along with uneven torque during install or accidentally putting weight on it while attaching the lines maybe? Definitely an interesting failure to say the least.

Pretty sure those ears that broke are the cast aluminum housing for the vacuum pump, not the 3 bolts that hold the HPFP/helix to the vac pump. Therefore it really couldn’t be an install error as those bolts aren’t touched during install.

It does seem to call attention to the leverage stresses associated with the long bolts to clamp the HPFP to the Spool Overdrive Unit to the vacuum pump. I suspect the HPFP should have additional support. Here’s an idea to consider: instead of using a flexible fuel line to connect the HPFP to the rail, use a custom-bent hard fuel line for the repositioned HPFP. That should support the HPFP end and be pretty easy to fabricate, no?

That's a bandaid instead of stitches and fuel line should not be supporting anything plus it's not black pipe where gonna hold any weight. The crack is going to take few mm of movement if that to happen. I would have to say that's prob not related to the helix unit. Not saying install error either but just shit happens when it's taken apart and put together imo.

Its definitely weight and vibration related stresses as the vacuum pump case was never designed to hold this and the pump it self be causing the vibration at the silly speed its running at.

He is lucky he only cracked the housing as it could have been a lot worse.

I have a couple of projects this can be used for but Ill definitely hold of for now

If it was due to added weight/leverage why would it break only the two ears on the right and not the top two ears first? I'd expect it to see more stress vertically than horizontally, but a support bracket is a good idea either way. There happens to be a threaded boss right above the HPFP good for that purpose.

The install instructions mention bending the LP hard line to clear the starter, maybe the line wasn't bent far enough and made contact putting extra stress on the assembly?

@Slow335is Do you have any comments on possible install error?

Did you put any extra strain on the unit when putting it all together?

Will you do it again with a new vacuum pump?

I installed it properly 100%. I installed with a used oem plate again. Definitely isn’t anyone’s fault other then the oem casting is very thin by bolting spots and I bet it can fail on stock hpfp set ups even. Definitely needs a billet upgrade.
