Motiv sells the Flexfuel unit WITHOUT the Motiv ECA

This is not a FlexFuel unit, it is simply a Continental ethanol sensor that can be purchased anywhere, even from a GM / Chevy dealer. The ECA is the Motiv FlexFuel unit. Like I said, other vendors will be free to get their ECA working after this beta period is over, but MHD nor Motiv will offer support there. That will fall on whomever the other vendor is.

@jyamona where is the %ethanol to PI voltage scaling done? If that's in the flexfuel firmware, is that something we'll be able to modify thru some interface?

When you say you can see the voltage to ethanol % conversion in tunerpro, can you publish the voltage to ethanol percentage? Unfortunately I can't view my tune at all since it's locked.

As the car should never see a true 0% or 100% E, I would advise setting your interpolation tables (fuel, timing, and boost) column for either 0% or 100% E in such a way that it runs the lowest boost, and most fuel.

It is in the firmware, yes. After much testing we have settled on a proprietary equation, but it is not currently editable. In the future that is something I might consider, but I am hoping that with a well tuned AIC map it should not be necessary.

Gotcha. As a tuner obviously I like to know what's going to happen before I test it on a car, but I understand wanting to keep your hard work proprietary. Could you give a general ballpark on 0%e vs 85%e scaling of the PI voltage?

Just so I’m clear, MHD software I have;
  1. Stage 1 and stage 2 pump gas map pack
  2. E85 mix map pack
  3. Flex Fuel module
  4. Flasher
  5. Monitor
All hardware installed. So I now flash a V8 stage map that aligns to my oct/Ron (ie stage 2+ 93 oct) and flex fuel is up and running? So ignore the E50/E30 maps now?

We're you added to the beta? MHD version should be 1.70 if so. Then yes you would just flash a V8 pump map.

Seems to be no content on the Google group for beta testing results.

I have an ECA voltage of 1.95 but 0.0 Ethanol Content %.
Is this an install problem or a software problem? I should be around E60 based on nbr gallons pumped in a while back.

Mine shows 9.8% on ca pump. I will be adding ethanol in a few hours to see if it all works.
