Upgraded T04 turbos for less $ than stock! Wtf? Link inside

I saw a post in the FrankenTurbo FB group about someone's turbos blowing twice and saying they're done with FrankenTurbo and going to a single turbo build... And it was deleted less than an hour later lol.

Frankenturbos. (who I thought no longer posted due to the permanence of forum posts, where they can control their posts (and members) on Facebook)

It is amazing anyone would buy them when it is so obvious what is going on. MMP does the same with his closed group I assume. They used to be all over the forums now crickets.

Awesome to hear, and not that surprising. As above, major manufacturers do employ some ridiculous scare tactics, especially when these come in cheaper than even Frankenturbos. That's exactly why he only posts there. He doesn't even reply to questions that you ask in his own group.

Speaking of FrankenTurbo... New amazing business plan: giant price drop to $1499! Who knows what could've prompted this?

Anyone want to jump on this amazing and very generous offer?

How do they charge no sales tax?

Sales Tax is applied only at a State level- so it only applies to those customers who live in the state of the business. Being in Missouri ourselves, we literally see next to no orders with taxes applied a year.

It's the purchaser's "responsibility" to report all out of state and internet purchases each year on their state taxes. :-/

Why does ECS charge me sales tax when I am not in their state when I order online? They are HQ's in Ohio, or is it because it comes/ships from their MA warehouse?

As they have facilities or operations in your state, then they must procure the taxes.

Don't forget that includes outlet being thrown in.

Yeah, doesnt look half bad either and is certainly functional. A bonus is on their outlet they used a tastefully sized 1.75" primary (even though a 1.5-1.625" would both suffice on OE-syle housings which outlet at just over 1"), but we can call it good where it is at too certainly better than 2" IMO.

BUT still left off any transitional adapter with the radial seal, grrr. Come on, go through the work of making a new outlet with primaries that are sized a bit more realistic and leave off the transitional adapter? May as well just made it 2" primary at this point.

As with this entire platform there always seems to be some inherent doofus move (aka design flaw) in most every part produced. Perhaps they will get that corrected, or address why it was designed the way it has been...

It really is to bad there isn't a definitive answer as to why new turbos like this succumb to death. These are speced really well, and you would hope that these were going to be the next game changer, an affordable upgraded turbo. Just like all work, if you cant put your heart and soul into it, treat it as your own, and turn in every night knowing you've done the best you can, then you may as well never started.

Thread has been rather interesting,
so far 6000-10000 miles longevity reported,
10k miles would last me a year of gapping n/a mustangs on the cheap.

I’m looking at these :nomouth:https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/232755184876

I'm sure they are all the same, so why not this from Amazon - might even pair it with a $20 4 year squaretrade warranty (if it works on marketplace items):
24794

These claim to be 17T instead of 16T with a 6+6,43.460 wheel instead of the 43.456, so maybe a bit bigger?

The VIV Autoparts store details says SL Turbo, and SL Turbo does have a webpage: http://www.slturbo-parts.com/index.php

What are they charging for balancing?
Or if anyone else can chime in what’s the going costs of turbo balancing

I get that they’re all the same design for the most part, i’m open to different buying options, although i’m not familiar with the square trade warranty, i hardly use amazon tbh i’m a Ebay guy

0.004mm difference nets to 0.000157 inch. I seriously doubt they are measuring sub-thou, much less controlling production there.
