This morning my tank was down to about 3-4 gallons of 93 octane so I finally opened up my 5 gal can of VP Racing Fuels’ X98 (98% ethanol) and added about 4 gallons to target E55-E60, about where my 100% interpolation end point is. This is my first time testing the MOTIV ECA on ethanol-enriched fuel.
Have a look - I think I did a pretty good job eyeballing my relative volumes of 93 in the tank and the amount of X98 I added from the can.

It was raining here in Philly this morning so I was only able to do a few short pulls to adapt the DME. This picture was after those pulls. You can see I hit close to 22 psi and 160 load - scaled bin for N20 TMAP.

You can also see my Fuel-It LPFP Stage 2 is messing with the EKP module or I need a new LPFP pressure sensor. Engine starts fine so I suspect it’s the pressure sensor. Any comments?

As I stated elsewhere previously, changing ekpm3 did nothing to eliminate lpfp errors... only changing lpfp sensor and hpfp sensor fixed it. I do not get any errors now. I also changed out hpfp but that has nothing to do with the error.

Exactly! Indeed, I saw your post and went ahead to order a new sensor.

Here are some additional comments I thought I’d share to help those who are installing their own MHD / Motiv Flex Fuel Modules:

1. Read the wiring instructions three times.

2. As the instructions say, flash your new Flex Fuel map to the car before wiring in the Motive Flex Fuel ECA and ethanol sensor into the fuel line. This means you purchased the MHD Flex Fuel module for $99 and have a Flex Fuel tune (probably an OTS or beta Flex Fuel tune, or your own custom Flex Fuel tune like me :) ) on your Android MHD device which you can now flash with MHD. After you flash the new tune you’re ready to disconnect the battery and follow the rest of the wiring instructions.

3. The instructions assume you know how to disconnect connectors from the DME. If you’ve never done this before (like me) then look at YouTube videos of how to do a JB4 install. These were tremendously helpful.

4. As I mentioned above the black grounding lead was too short for me to fish out to the ground location next to the washer filler neck so I cut it and inserted about another 4-5 inches of wire.

5. Remember, if you don’t have a Flex Fuel tune ready to flash then don’t wire in the module yet.

My car is bucking like crazy after this install and idk why!

Got the new file from Motiv. Loaded it up. Wired up the analyzer and went to drive. The car bucks like idk how to drive manual. When cruising at a steady speed it’ll start to buck and surge.

Any ideas at all?

Hey guys,
Just installed my flex fuel module from motiv. I am only getting a reading of 7.9% ethanol and 3.9% interpolation. Mixed in e50 and did not see a new reading. Any tips or an FAQ I may have overlooked would be great. Flex fuel module is purchased. 1.77 v8 beta 93 map

It may take a few minutes of driving to get the ethanol all mixed in and reading at your ethanol sensor down line from your tank.

Hi Gents!

Just to double check; What should you see in MHD if you are ready to flash a flexfuel compatible pump map?
I purchased the Stage2+ pack and the Flex Fuel pack. Do i also need the E85 Mix Maps pack?
What version should i see? I am a beta tester already and requested to be added to Flexfuel Beta via E-mail. Currently i see Version 1.70c

Thanks in advance!

Fuel interpolation says 86.3
Ethanol content 49.8
ECA Voltage 4.45

4.45V is an error voltage. Contact your Jake H / Chris and let them know something isn't right.

I sat it for a moment but will try a longer duration. Thabks in advance!

Yea it can take a few minutes for it to blend in the tank and the reading start reflecting the additional ethanol.

If you want to run an OTS FF map, you need a V8 pump map pack, the V8 ethanol map pack, and flex fuel license. Then just flash whichever stage V8 pump map, and it will automatically take care of the rest.

I flashed after wiring up the module and I haven't noticed any issue but it's only been 1 day and it's been raining so haven't had a chance to log a good pull. Should I flash back to a stock bin unwire the module and then flash the FF bin again and finally wire everything again?

I have. Mine will fluctuate a percent or two or 3 during a single gear pull) and I had it jump to 100 mid pull in 3rd gear recently for about 150 rpms. I was told any variances like that, or the jump to 100 or 0 could be indicative of a bad ground. I haven't had time to mess with mine yet since it's been fairly consistent. Does yours always happen at 13psi, or does yours "always happen" but at 13psi. Mine was at 22psi when it jumped to 100. Time to check the flexfuel ground. Not sure what could be wrong with it since it's the oem ground point.

1-3% is fine. If it's jumping a lot or to 100%, it is probably around where your 2nd lpfp activates. I'm on my phone so can't easily search, but if you look in the main n54 stock dme flex fuel thread you will see a post detailing how to fix. You must wire your 2nd lpfp as a positive trigger.

Not sure about @conair, but I only have a single LPFP. Not running a stage 3 yet.
